I also liked the Technics's styles (we used have a dealer nearby) and I found, although they were simple, they were very effective and usable...the style programmers did a great job.

Also, I can see(and hear) why Fran still has his G-70. It still has a great rich sound, especially that piano (and the organ gets a special mention)...and the styles are still really good as well. I think they have some of the best Latin...especially Bossa Nova.

To me it was always simple...buy the best tool you can afford, to suit the job(s) at hand.

It just so happens Yamaha works for me the best, but I'm sure I could take any one of the above keyboards and do a gig with it, no problem...and, enjoy it! grin

When they released the KN6000 they where 5 years ahead of the competition together with GEM...

What ever happened here?

Hi Bachus,

I remember it well.
For me January was a lousy start to 2004,
They stopped making my favourite brand of keyboard, my husband was rushed to hospital, my kn7000 went down due to power failure, from a fallen power line.

Good news was, husband recovered after 8 months in hospital.
I was able to fix KN7000 with expert help of one of the Technics Forum members ( Technics PLayer ) Guy was a genius.

But still no more Technics.

Can't imagine where they'd be if they'd kept making them. They wereso far ahead of the competition.

Ian, I'm really surprised that you got surprised regarded Technics.
Sadly, as we all know, no more Technics KN developement and production, but I've said it before: If Technics and Ketron jumped to a "marriage" back then and buildt a "Techtron" or "Kethnics", it would probably be the Top Of The Range today.

Anyway,
I agree in the statement about a great player can make whatever keyboard to sound great, seen and heard it many times during the years.

Nice and interesting videos Donny. smile

Which is why, through all the 'new' KBs being introduced, I am STILL gigging with my kn6000 ... played the lounge of an 'upscale' Italian restaurant last night - http://lucianos.diningquest.com/ - the pics show the bar/lounge area - the small dance floor was overflowing all night, lots of compliments, tips, etc. ...
The owner of this restaurant is unlike the majority of owners in that he realizes that music enhances the ambiance of the venue ... he has live music every weekend in the lounge and in the 'formal' dining rooms ... the guy I subbed for leaves most of his equipment - he has been steady there Fri/Sat for several years - I bring my kb, cables, VH and mic ... plug into his mixer which goes into his BOSE L1 ... SWEET ...
