. . . that I like playing music. I'm in the middle of 17 straight nights. Good thing is they are all in the same place and I don't have to tear down.
Bad news is they feed me every night at 10:30, gourmet meal, and I don't have the will power to say no, so I am getting really fat again.
I started at six and played 30 minutes; now waiting for them to eat in main dining room. Then I'll have 150 dancers for a couple of hours. Mostly strict tempo ballroom, swing type music.

Don, when you've got it, you've got it. Lay it on them my friend and keep up the good work.

WOW! It's a good thing that you don't like Margarettas. If you did you wouldn't be able to get into your trousers without a shoe horn. wink

Methinks Lord Mason doth complain too much. I know men who would kill to have such status and talent. Knock 'em dead, Don... and get out there on that course as often as this rotten weather will cooperate.

All the best,

Dave Rice

Just found out that tomorrow's job is a Wake. I'll be playing for the family and friends of the dearly departed. I've done several of those over the years. Louisiana people know how to live it up til the end . . . and after!
Rice, it's tough this time of year deciding whether to bass fish or play golf. We've had such a mild winter so far that the fish think it's Spring. The grass has not died this winter either.
Gary, I DO like Margaritas, I just don't drink 'em at work, so as a result I don't drink 'em at all!

Right, I'm normally at Ernest's every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and two to three weekends per month.
They are normally closed on Sunday and Monday, but when there is a private party on one of those days I generally go in and work those also. All of this lined up so that there were no nights off for a while.
I'm a very lucky guy sometimes!

I only had 4 public "gigs" last week, but I also had a film score for a UK college of Dentistry project. This one was on a tight budget....$500.00 a finished minute. Film was 12 minutes long.

Also did a studio session for a national chicken chain. Pay was about what I get for 5 nights for about three house work and a drive to Louisville and back (160 miles). There are also residuals if the flite of spots is extended or the placements are increased. On last year for the same client netted over $5,000.00.

Point is, there is work out there; sometimes it's not what most of us are accustomed to doing.

Doing a Gallery Hop night next week where all the art is the nude form. Now, what's not to like about that?

Images of HAIRY LEGGED, NAKED MEN, that's what!(LOL).

Enjoy whatever, whenever and wherever you play.

Just remember to keep your clothes on!

Russ

Believe it or not, as much as I like music score and film production, I miss playing for an appreciative audience, even though, as an entertainer, I SUCK!

Great MUSICIANS, especially in the Jazz genre, often "suck" as entertainers ... but their entertainment is in their music ... smile

Don, this does sound like "music to my ears" There is nothing as good as a musician being kept busy with lovely work like this.

Beautiful.
