Its been a while since I saw any topics on what to use to slow down the speed of an mp3 for transcribing. Im wondering whats out there now?

Ive tried a couple of software programs, but the sound always ends up muddy. Windows Media Player has an adjustment to slow down playback, but that also gets muddy. Tascam has a hardware product called the Instrumental Trainer/Recorder which Ive havent been able to hear.

Is anyone using either software or hardware and still getting a very clear sound when slowing the speed of a recording (for transcribing).

I think Audacity should do the trick and it's free.
