I remember considering buying a Korg Pa500 a couple of years ago,
but advised by a couple of Pa500 owners at the time, that the Pa500's max volume output level was rather weak,
requiring the need to crank up the PA system volume a lot more than with other keyboards, including other Korg arrangers.

I'm interested in hearing from Donny Pesce and other Pa500 owners, as well as others who have played a Pa500:

Is this an issue confused1 , esp when going out the keyboard's built in speakers?

Yes the output level is low. I connected it in the mixer input and adjusted the gain control higher and now it is the loudest keyboard without hearing noise. The psr s900 has a loud output but the volume control has to be set in the mid range otherwise the sound is "overloaded" (can't find the proper word to explain). Using the built in speakers doesn't affect the output level.

I would hardly consider that merely rumor, because in addition to the earlier reports I got from two Pa500 owner friends mentioning to me about their Pa500 unit's low output volume, vagro now confirms experiencing the same on his Pa500 too:

That said Donny, it's great to discover (from your reply) that Korg has apparently fixed that problem now.
I wonder if the fix was achieved in an OS update or if it required a louder volume output level hardware part?

Scott

No Scott,

Apparently it was a left hand fluffle valve that was the problem, replaced the same time as the faulty blue LEDS,changed the oil the brake fluid... it's now all clear for you to buy one sofa

With Scotts Piano background & talents on arranger KB's/vocals as well ..the KORG Pa3x 76 would be a perfect match IMO.

I have my pa500 (bought it in 2008) and my psr s900 side by side. I connected the pa500 into the mic line with gain control set at maximun position. The psr is connected into a regular line in at half the volume (otherwise the sound is overloaded). This way I get similar volume in both units. The pa500 sounds clear and crispy. No problem.

The flufle valve is adjusted, and the blue leds are on. My be it needs some oil replacement to get higher volume.

Scott I know exactly what u are talking about.

the DAC's (Digital to Analogue Converters) on the PA 500 are not the same as the PA 800 and PA 2X.

there is a HUGE write up about this on the korg forums.

In my experience with the Korg (2)PA800, (2) PA500s, (1)PA60 the settings I had to use on my EMX 312SC then EMX512Sc, versus the Tyros 2,3(4 now) keyboards I had then and now, are basically a mirror of what Victor describes, I had the Yamaha at "noon" and the Korgs I had to Max the volume to more or less even the volumes when I played with those 2 arrangers.

I have not try yet the outputs on my latest acquisition, the Micro-Arranger.

I noticed a lower output with the MicroArranger, compared to my other keyboards...

Oh No Fran,

Does this mean "The end is Nigh" for the little critter.. sofa

Col, it all too late, Korg's got a performance problem in the sound department, there is still time to buy my Audya, busting with power, like and well tuned Ferrari, made in Italy, where they make pizza.... rotf2

Mind you a little less volume may suit your Doris when you are playing. violin

Have a nice day I would test the output on the micro synth today.

Regards

Tony
