I've got a question for you folks (esp. Donny)!

What small mixer do you recommend and what do YOU use?

Is a small under $100 mixer good enough for me on the tyros 4 and a mic?
For example the behringer-xenyx-802-mixer

Is there BETTER mixers besides for just having more channels? I don't plan on using any effects anyway..?

This can be a good thread for all tyros and yamaha users who perform.

I just want to have more control and the ability to use stereo. I have now two EV LiveX 12in Speakers, and have not used a mixer until now.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks,
Shim

Yes Shim,

a 802 is a cracking little mixer, I have one for the Audya and the Tyros 4, plug the Tascam recorder into it also.

not expensive

Tony

Shim,
If you don't need onboard efx, the 802 is a great choice. That said,
I recently purchased and recommend the Behringer Xenyx 1002FX
especialy if you want effects included as well. It's got 10 inputs, including 2 XLR mic inouts,
phantom power, and 100 digital efx.
As Donny Pesce recommends as well (he owns this unit too) smile ,
I like efx setting #91 rev/short slap back delay, ch 1 mic FX at 1 o'clock and master at 12 o'clock for a nice vocal efx. cool
I love this compact 2.3 lb mixer because it easily slips into the side pocket of my keyboard case.

Scott

As Scott says this 1002FX is the one to go for. Particularly because it it leaves you a couple of mike inputs that you can furnish with reverb and other effects. Definitely the best choice imho.

John

Morning Shim Scott Tony etc

I have just decided a different approach, to improve my recording both studio and live, I've just sold both my Alesis multimix 8 mixers my Zoom H2 and replaced them with a Zoom R16 which acts as a 8/16 channel mixer, records 8 channels simultaeously, acts as audio interface and worksurface for your PC/DAW, an all-round clever dick.

The results will hopefully be posted soon, I only got it yesterday so it may be some time.

Fingers crossed headphone

Regards

I'm using the Behringer 1002B, which is over budget, a bit bigger, and doesn't have effects

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/1002B.aspx

But it does have sliders and more eq / routing options, which sold it to me. Also it can run on batteries and includes rack mount "ears".
