Do registration names have to have numbers at the beginning?

No. When you name them, you don't have to have numbers. Audya will insert numbers automatically for if you want to recall them in the future with numbers rather than alphabetically or scrolling through manually (saves time).

Thanks,

AJ

Thanks AJ, that's what I needed to know. I would like to have rearranged the order of my registrations putting the ones I use the most at the top of the list but if the Audya assigns numbers for us then it is not possible to arrange in a desired order.

good morning Bernie,

That seems like a good system. I have a little more flexibility now that I've learned how to use the laptop connected. Names were
a lot more difficult just using the Audya.

I'm trying to learn how to best "tweek" the styles I like to make
them sound best to my ear, then I save to registration.

Just curious, re: the registrations Ketron just gave us, to me they sounded pretty much just like the basics styles in the Audya.
What did you think?

Gary

Gruhs

I am of the very same opinion.
Wasn't very impressed at all.

Just so we understand ...

Registrations are not styles (and the reverse is true). A registration can also be refered to as ...
* Song Book
* Panel Setting
* Panel Memory
* Panel snap-shot ... etc (as used by other manufacturers).

A Registration (REGISTER to be exact) is a memory location (either in the keyboard itself or on a HD or external storage) that stores the settings of a keyboard (style, levels, sounds, effects, midi-settings, footswitch settings, vocal setting ... etc) at any given time. This file can easily be instantly recalled on stage (E.G) for future use.

There are 2 ways you can use a REGISTRATTION.

1. STYLE:- This is where you set up the keyboard to play say a nice JAZZ song and you save the Register as [01] Jazz.reg. Now, whenever you recall this register, it will automatically recall the JAZZ style and voices that were previously saved with it. You can then use this setting to play quit a few Jazz songs that share this similar style and set up.

2. SONGS:- Similar to the above - however you set the keyboard up more specifically for a particular tune, knowing that this register will ONLY be used for this song. In this case, you name the REGISTER the same name as the song .... eg [002] New York.reg. For the next Jazz song, simply select another style, a different voice ...etc and call that [003] My way.reg. Now when you go on stage, instead of recalling just 1 register to play 5 tunes back to back, you can do the same thing but now recall different registers which in turn recall 5 different Jazz styles, tempo, sounds, settings ... etc. This ofcourse adds more flavour and variety to your music, and ony requires a little more set-up time than case 1 above.

Having said that, yes, the Registrations Ketron just provided are settings (not new styles, not new sounds - simply settings). The names suggest what style of music you can use these settings for but they do not suggest any new style being added to the keyboard. So you may see a Registration called Merengue25.reg .... this doesn't mean a new style called Merengue25 has been added to your keyboard. It simply means this registration setting can be used to play a Merengue tune, however 25 was added to the name so as not to conflict with the prevous Merengue.reg file that already existed in your Audya's HD - Registration - Single folder.

The new 3hrs DVD tutorial we just released goes into depth with this, Block Registrations and other features (Sampling, HD Recording and Multi- Recording, Style Creation, Editing or Remixing, Voice Creation and Editing ... etc) not previously well explained in the documents that went ahead.

Contact us at ketron_tech@yahoo.com for more information.

Hope this clarifies the slight 'confussion' ... if at all there was really any.

Thanks,

AJ

thanks ketron Aj for answer, I like registraion and use it but,
about point 1... the use of styles:
you talk that regisration "call" the jazz style ok
but is same like link ? the registration search the jazz style, load it, and change all parametre like sounds volume ecc ?
what I understand with many try is that registration "STORE" the content of style info the file.reg...example:
1. I save registration that use internal jazz.sty, but only change sounds and volume. when load the reg file it load the styles and change volume and sounds ?
2. what append if I save registration that use USER styles ?
what append if I rename or move this user styles ?
it did'nt find the link of it ? or what ?
3. what append if I edit example the "END 1" of this style ?
whan I load reg it recall this new modify with new END ?

as I understand reg.. don't recall the link of style (like old ketron) but STORE the styles into .reg

then if I edit the styles, (not in view mode but edit mode) and edit note, example I clear a midi snare ecc) it is stored into ONLY the user style, but ALL the registration that are link to this styles when loaded have not the snare cleared

or I'm wrong ?

why this ? because I want to create many registration to link of particular style. but I want edit the note, the lengh of intro and ending of this style only 1 time and all registration link it and play the same

Just one particularity.Why this reasoning doesnt work with a registration containing user audio drums?

If i want to copy the registration to another keyboard i have to copy also the PAT style file and the user audio drum wav files.

The wav files makes sense but the PAT? why?

Let me try and answer some of your questions (still recovering from EU trip)...

thanks ketron Aj for answer, I like registraion and use it but,
about point 1... the use of styles:
you talk that regisration "call" the jazz style ok
but is same like link ? the registration search the jazz style, load it, and change all parametre like sounds volume ecc ?
>>>AJ:- Correct. The Registration controls the values you change in STYLE VIEW, but not the values you save in PATTERN EDIT. If you want to use a style in multiple Registrations, EDIT the style in PATTERN EDIT, then save with a different name - e.g Jazz_1 - now when you go to set up for Registration, simply use Jazz_1 rather than JAZZ.

what I understand with many try is that registration "STORE" the content of style info the file.reg...example:
1. I save registration that use internal jazz.sty, but only change sounds and volume. when load the reg file it load the styles and change volume and sounds ?
2. what append if I save registration that use USER styles ?
what append if I rename or move this user styles ?
>>>AJ:- If you save the Registration and then later REMOVE the USER style, that style will no longer be there when you go to recall the Registration.

it did'nt find the link of it ? or what ?
3. what append if I edit example the "END 1" of this style ?
whan I load reg it recall this new modify with new END ?
>>>AJ:- Answered above.

If you create (e.g) a Registration on your AUDYA and wish to share this with another AUDYA user, you will have to provide them with ...
* The Registration file.
* The STYLE (User or Factory)
* The Audio Drums (if using a USER STYLE that uses AUDIO Drums)
* The Midifile, Wave or MP3 (in the case of BLOCK REGISTRATION).
* The Text (where applicable).

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ, you only have to provide the style and drums if they are third party styles - and don't forget from 2011 onwards styles are copy protected and only work on the Audya they were installed on. In other words if you try and copy one of the styles with the dot (&) sign in front to a friends audya it will not play and display 'protected style'.

Where did you go in the EU?

Tonewheeldude.

You're correct. When I mentioned 'Factory' above, I was actually referring to Factory styles that have been further 'tweeked' and thus stored in USER STYLE locations. If you stick with using just the contents of AUDYA as presented out-of-the-box, then just the Registration file will sufice when sharing amongst friends.

Italy for a few days (to wrap up on Style development) and then France for some Sound research.

What a more relaxing atmosphere EU seems to have ...

Thanks,

AJ
