Hello dear ones,
This is a tune called "Highland Cathedral' written in 1982 by German musicians Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb. Highland Cathedral is a popular bagpipe tune composed for the Highland games held in Germany. I hope you enjoy. Telmo.

I like the orchestration very much, pity the tyros can't give realistic pipes but then what can? Love it.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no arranger keyboard, or for that matter, any electronic device that can effectively duplicate the pipes. Loved the arrangement, Telmo--keep em' coming.

Gary,

I promise I will get out a bit more and do some more work, BTW I always thought the Tyros 4 had the best pipes sounds of any arranger ever made. Maybe I am wrong sure someone will correct
me timely

Tyros Irish pipes are extremely good but the Scottish ones are poor.
Technics owners can get some brilliant Scottish bagpipes complete with Drone on Technote's Authentic Accompaniments Vol 2.
This should be available from Neil Blake who took over Technote's Disk range.

Hi Giovanni,
I'm afraid I don't have any other info on this disk.
I have looked at Neil's catalogue and, as you say, there is no mention of it in there.

I have the code numbers of most of my software on the computer but there is no code showing for that one.

The original disk should have a code on it but it's actually somewhere in my loft (not sure where) at the moment.
If I manage to find it, I will let you (and Neil) know what the code is.

Tony

Here you go http://www.epipes.co.uk/products.html

Once purchased and downloaded, just load it into your keyboards VST Host, (Or if your keyboard doesn’t have a VST Host, then use a separate computer via Midi) set it up as you want, and away you go. (Sound selection is the same as selecting any other on-board sound, assuming the VST Host is integrated into the keyboards OS)

Enjoy

Bill

Going back to the discussion about Bagpipes - Owners of Tyros3 and Tyros4 can download some better Scottish Bagpipes (free of charge) than the one in the Tyros.
Go to http://www.francescomassa.altervista.org/files/voices/voices.htm

and download "Highland Parade"

Other voices also available and he has a few styles too (which I haven't tried yet).

Hi Telmo,
Lost track of things due to the discussion about Bagpipes but I originally intended to say how much I enjoyed your playing of Highland Cathedral.
This is no surprise as your performances are always so professional and you have an uncanny ability to make your setups match every facet of the pieces you play - well done , and I look forward to your next offering.

May I just ask where you bought the beautiful "Bamboo Flute" voice which you used in your intro - such a haunting sound and nothing in the Tyros flutes comes near for that type of music.
Best wishes,
Tony

Anthony the link to the f.massa files - the highland pipes sounds really good.
I don't have tyros yet, I only listened to demos.

He says it needs expanded memory, is the tyros 4 memory normal simm or you need to buy some extra memory card?

Hi Oscar,
You cannot use ordinary computer SIMS in Yamaha keyboards - you have to buy a dedicated memory card.

I bought a Yamaha card but some suppliers are much cheaper than others and there are others on this Forum who will be able to recommend one to you.
Best wishes,
Tony

Thanks, yeah I don't have tyros, had been going to the music store many times to play with it but here it is $5000. I would go for $3500 used, but nothing in my area.
I do like it for sure, but the 2.5x difference from my PSR910 is a little too steep. Sonically there is probably some difference that I couldn't get from the headphones and it has some new articulated 2 voices (but only very few!) and the choirs are definitely above the PSR (probably above any other synths).
But still, more I play with it in the store, less I am convinced for upgrade... most of the things that bugs me on PSR are unchanged in Tyros 4 (the very lame and non-visual recording functions for example)

In fact my latest idea is to wait when yamaha will upgrade the arrangers and give me some more reason to upgrade. It could be a long wait...I hear not a beep from yamaha.
Sorry for stealing the thread... just a rant. I do like the Tyros, I just hate the price....probably because I am naturally cheap.
