My drummer/grandson has been on vacation for a week, so I've been doing a single were we have been working as an organ (C-1)/drums duo.

I use a Solton MS-60 for drums and key drum intros and breaks with the 13 note Solton/Ketron pedalboard. I leave the vibes setting on the Solton and disable the arranger function.

Below the Solton is an ancient but almost new in the box XB-2 Hammond. That's where I get the left-hand bass and the right hand B-3 sounds (gotta love those drawbars).

To my right I have a little Yamaha NP-30 piano, set for grand and Rhodes.

This also gives me the flexibility to choose other tones (horns, for instance) on the right hand of the Solton.

Next week, I'm going to do the same thing with the SD-5.

The key here is the pedalboard, for flexibility...much better than a stand alone drum machine.

I use a Motion Sound top rotor box for doppler.

Kind of a rag-tag assembly of equipment, but the job this week was grand opening of a new little downtown bistro (4 straight early nights-left the equipment set-up and went right to my next job(s). Must have been OK; they asked me to come back as often as I can work it in...may develop into a Wed-Saturday 5 PM to 8:00 gig before the evening ones close by. They're also talking about Sunday brunch.

So, guys, I'm kinda back in the arranger business. The walkng left-hand sound is what the place wants, and it's working out pretty well. Miss the live drums (and grandson will miss the weekly contribution to the law school fund LOL), but, it AIN'T BAD!

As long as you are enjoying it, don't stop 'til you drop!

Send me a recording or two if you want, Russ.

Although I have a KORG PA800, I also have the MS50 which is the same as the MS60 without the speakers, and although it goes back a long way, it still has some great sounds even to todays standards, I use it when I want to play left hand bass and piano on the right.

I have a Korg PA50sd and a Solton MS60 agreed they MS does sound great these days only limited by the number of internal styles and time loading external ones if you use styles that is.
