This was very enjoyable, thanks. If only I were a rich man. I could travel around, sit in with all of you swingers and grovers just for the pleasure of the whole experience of different styles of playing and swinging.

Nice. "Play that funky music.....". This is a good example of the secret of good arranger playing; you need to be able to play at or near the same level as the (professional) backing tracks. Also, the accompaniment should compliment YOUR performance, not DOMINATE the performance. This was accomplished here, which is why it sounded MUCH better than the average run-of-the-mill arranger performance. Another key (to a good performance) is, as always, good taste. In this case, an excellent choice of lead and solo voices. Also, the emphasis on DYNAMICS in playing style helps offset the general lack of dynamics (think 'live') found in most arranger style backing. This leads to a more realistic (again, think 'live') and enjoyable performance. As usual, these are just my opinions. Great job (sincerely).

Tostie,

Brilliant as ever, a T4 in the right hands is hard to beat, if at all. party

Donny mi old Mate,

You can just turn it off if you don't like that particular sound, there are 8 in there, Tostie must just like it.

Hi Joost,

Another excellent tune. What impresses me is that with most (if not all) of your recordings, you are essentially using the standard Tyros4 sounds (usually One Touch Settings) and styles (in this case Soul) in your compositions/improvisations which says a lot about your great natural creative talent and also the immense power of the T4 right out of the box and not needing any enhancements.

I like the solo Electric Piano at the beginning and the neat way you brought in the band (accompaniment).

You get better with each new tune you post...I remember hearing (and seeing) your first performances way back when you played on Sunday, and you just keep honing your talent to a sharper edge.

A fine job with the recording process as well.

Superb stuff, Joost...keep them coming.

Ian

Thank you all for the kind comments.

I might have asked this question before, but what kind (musical style) of songs do you all prefer? I'm just curious.

In the past I demonstrated the Clavinova, Avant Grand and Arranger line from Yamaha in a local music store (mostly for fun and it paid much better than most student jobs) Most 50+ customers had a huge preference for Orchestral, BigBand and Latin (Rumba!) styles. Does this also count for most (USA) elderly on this forum?

Best Regards,

Joost

Joost great performance as usual, very enjoyable.

I love your comment above with the 50 Plus in the elderly category. I'm 60 but still feel like I'm in my 30s. But I do have tastes that more mimic the real elderly who love the big band, orchestral and latin styles.

Smooth Jazz for this old dude. That's why I like your stuff.
A little funk thrown in does not hurt a bit!

Hi Joost,
Interesting that you posted the above comment on your YouTube channel along with the song,
because I honestly think this one of your best performances.

Tony it's not just on this song it's a standard Yamaha trait sound in their styles that I dislike very much.....it makes all their styles sound the same Imo. Sorry.

Very Cool. He "played" the Arranger instead of "playing along with it". Very musical preformance with an arranger. Excellent
