Donny, I like your advice, but very often the stuff I'm interested in just isn't around. Believe it or not, Detroit is not the hub for big ass or even private owner music stores that carry this stuff. I often rely on opinions from guys like you, Fran and others to help me make a determination. Because of this, I sometimes find myself selling as soon as I've bought, but I've done that with stuff I've tried out first too. Thanks for looking out for all of us...

Ok Just MY opinion. The Ba330 is a great amp with a great mixer section, effects, patching and its light, EXCEPT it has no serious kick, AKA lack of power. Sent mine back after 1 day. Its running on just 30 watts. Great for very mellow gigs but I can't imagine what kind of Fairy Dust Fran sprinkles over his to do dance music, and I do greatly respect Fran's knowledge and opinions. I ran it with the main volume full out so as not to limit the amps and set everything else on middle range. OK for solo piano and maybe a vocal but add any drums or bass with some kick and its outta gas. I've been doing solos with my trusty old Crate KX220. Doing my outside deck gigs with it and been told to turn down. Arranger, voice and DJ --BUT it weights 70 lbs. I really wish the BA330 had some power and despite the high price I would grab two in a minute. For the extra money I'd get a Yamaha Stagepass.
Fran, I'm coming back to the CT for dinner to hear this thing !!! HA!!!

Bill, it depends on the intended use...The CT acoustics do not require our 70 pound speakers....Like you when I need the big thump...nothing short of my Cubes will do...

The BA330 was designed to use with up to 100 people, and I have found it to work great in venues like senior gigs, restaurants, and even lounges and combo rooms like the CrabTrap..It does the same rooms that a Bose compact will do...The 30 watts stereo compared to the Compact 100 watts mono is marginal in the above venues listed...In fact the mids are better on the BA330, and the Compact has the bottom edge (Sub woofer)....but for a swiss knife unit..you can't beat the BA330..

Numbers on amp ratings is a farce to me...you have to try the units in a real setting....

My Cubes are 100 watts, and it out performs the 1000 watt competition that others rave about....The edirol mixer turned out to be my "perfect" match for the Old Cubes..

The best 70 pounds a gig could have...but when I don't need the extra power...the 29 pound BA330 works for me..

We all know we don't take a knife to a gun fight...

I use my little BA 330 on about 1/3 of my jobs. they're jobs with 100 or under customers in a relatively small space.

Heck, for really small jobs (50 or under), I sometimes use a Roland CM 30.

These would be low volume jobs with little or no vocals.

GREAT STUFF!
