Hello Colin,

At long last I came upon someone flogging this KOdak Zi8 for only 50 euros including charger, cables and even remote control. Funny that is. I have given it a try plugged in straight into the line out of the Korg PA800 and it is absolutely great !!! I will try and post a recording later on this week. I even gave it a try with my acoustic guitar using the built in mike and that came out surprisingly well too. I wonder if DonM who apparently bought one as well has had the same positive experiences.
Thanks for bringing it to our notion !!

regards
John

John,

Was that new or used? Either way, that's a great package deal. For some reason, here in the States, the Zi8 is still priced over $400 on Amazon ...and ONLY the camera. (Anyone know of a lower price)?

If you record a video, could you demo using both the mic input v. the built in mic.

Thanks

Yes, I have. I love it. I tried it twice. First time the audio send from my mixer was too hot. Second time, the sound was great.
I am set up under a bright red light at work, so I'm waiting until I get into a better lighting situation to record something I want to share with "the world".
However both video and audio are very good under normal circumstances.

I bought mine on Ebay for a little over $100.

Does this camera have a white balance control? You may need it, depending on the bulb you buy. If it's tungsten and you use a daylight setting, everything will be a blue shade.

And, Try bouncing the light off a back wall, or better yet, a photo reflector to eliminate bad shadows and flat images.
