Tony my friend do not put words in my mouth that I did not say.
I said "killer set up beating VIRTUALLY etc."

Yes in my opinion the combination I mentioned beats all of the single set ups you mentioned in your list. Obviously this is subject to taste but you know I have always advocated two brands to meet one's requirements. Money being no object one could go for a Tyros4 + PA3X, but bearing in mind the purse strings and the question asked by Steiner I would say that a PSR910 used + brand new PA800 would cost you approx. 2200 euros, which is considerably less even than a brand new basic 61-keys PA3X without speakers, not to mention the Tyros 4.
It goes without saying one would miss some things and some sophistication of the two top models but I think the pros would massively compensate the minuses......
I myself am still very pleased with my PA800 + dated Yamaha PSR900, go figure !!!

John,

In the UK we wouldn't consider any KB with built in speaker a professional bit of kit, so I can't figure it out, KBs with speaker are for home use, take the G70 it hasn't got built in speakers, ask the experts, they will tell you.. headphone

I would think carefully about an older Tyros. If you can afford Yamaha's latest, with audio styles, this is the direction that Yamaha will probably be heading with any new Tyros arranger.

Why not get the latest technology, and then start saving for when Yamaha make it available on the more capable Tyros's?

On the rare occasions when I have my keyboard at home, it is nice to have speakers.
If the companies simply called them a "built in monitor system", they would be acceptable to the so called pros.

Tony,

I am not a professional player. Far from it, I am just an average home player I guess. As to the G70, I don't like it, never have. I shied away from Roland Arrangers at the turn of the century and never looked back. Besides I do not follow what you are saying. You see built in speakers have the added bonus of using either those ( home) or linking up with a PA or monitors. All those "professional " keyboards without speakers only have the latter option.

For years now I have maintained that one is ultimately better of with two different brands of keyboard than with just one "top-of-the-line" keyboard. Of course if you are a professional entertainer you may want two of the best, depending on your purse strings. But take Donny who is pleasing the crowds with his PA500 at present, or DonM who basically uses the PA3X to the best of my knowledge.

My set up fills my needs ( and my musical capicities). I still thinkg that with the new arrivals a set up consisting of a PSR950 and Korg PA600 will be hard to beat by any other keyboard, other than a combination of course that also includes both top of the line keyboards, but that's no fair comparison.

regards,
John

John,

You are right about the speakers, nice to have a set if you are going to play at home, I have never had a KB with built in speakers, sorry I thought you were gigging for a living. One thing we can agree on is the G70, I gave mine away to someone, they are not popular in the UK, not even in Northampton!! rotf2If Nedim gets one I might consider looking at one, Rico loves his G70 ??? confused2 Mind you John I think all the syles are off the T4, if you want powerful styles it's got to be a T4. sofa

Cheer John

Tony
