See what, Zuki? That if you package a bunch of lies in a presentable enough package, you can persuade a lot of low IQ individuals to buy into it. Or is WHAT is said less important than WHO is saying it. Some examples:

1. Born in Kenya
2. Socialist
3. "Not like us"
4. Doesn't understand America or what it means to be American
5. Muslim
6. "Hates White People" (Glen Beck)
7. Apologizes for America
8. Pals around with terrorist
9. Didn't really graduate from Harvard
10. ---and the list goes on...an on....and on......

Why not have the courage to say what you REALLY mean instead of hiding behind insinuation and inuendo. Luckily, there are enough people of good will who make up their minds based on fact rather than the constant barrage of BS coming from radical right. BTW, did you happen to notice the level of diversity in the attendees at the two respective RNC and DNC conventions? Wow, I guess a picture (or video) is worth a thousand words. But in all fairness, you DO have Allen West and Herman Cain. If you combined their brain cells you could have a synapse. Anyway, for your sake, I hope you aren't in the 47%.

Thanks for having the guts to speak for both of us Chas! But now here comes the crap (job numbers up today) and more to come. Plain sickening. Wake up America.

You don't need me to speak for you, Zuki. You've got Glen, Rush, Sean, Sarah, Michelle (B), Allen, and even Jack Welch (the only one of that group that's not certifiable) to not only speak for you but even convince you to vote against your own interest (unless you happen to be in the 1% - not too many Arranger Players in that group, though). Sure there is 'crap' on both sides, but when you're motivated by a well-documented and deep-seated hatred of the current image of the 'White House', you tend to rachet up the rhetoric a bit. I think even you would have to admit that the vitriol towards Obama is a bit over-the-top and wayyyyyy more personal than towards any other president. Me, I think it's sad that the once proud Republican Party has to stoop to preying on people's fears about the perceived "browning of America" in order to sell a bunch of policies that demean and diminish women and deny voting rights to those who don't subscribe to their policies and ideology. The ignorant, the hardcore, and the unenlightened will at least be up front about their disdain for science, education, equal opportunity, religious freedom, and any other attributes of a modern progressive society. The rest hide behind the more respectable facade of 'economic concerns'. But down in our hearts we all know the truth, don't we.

Have a nice day.

hmmmmm......If things go incumbent, I'll fall from the upper middle class too! (middle class is gone). Who would run your organization, a business major or a coddled "pick the losers" politician?

Wow! Guess you really like the 'Kool Aid'. Let's see now. One, the son of a very wealthy and prominent polital family whose father was a former Governor and Mother a Senate candidate; the other, the son of a single mother living on food stamps, but Obama is the one that was "coddled"? Oh well, as the saying goes, "there is none so blind as he that WILL not see".

Oh, and BTW, the "UPPER middle class" did very well over the past four years. Also, "upper middle class" these days usually implies income of at least 1 million/yr or better. Those nursing home gigs must have been paying much better than I thought. Anyhow, I hope you handle the fall gracefully.

Dave, so glad to see you posting again! Paulsen was GREAT!

Hope you're well.

Chas and Jim, you're both friends, and I'm so glad to see that, while spirited, this discussion is articulate, cutting and lots of other things....but not PERSONAL!

As a people, we need this kind of discourse. That's what personal freedom and commitment is all about.

Hope you're both well!

Russ

PS: I'm a lifetime Republican and former member of the Mormon church who is a "dyed in the wool" Obama backer.

I have no party affiliation. But not being a US citizen I don't get to vote anyway so it really doesn't matter. But I trust Obama so if I could vote ... and did I mention I love dogs and know how they need to be treated. How people treat animals says so much about their character and how they relate to people.

Hi Russ,

I'm doing great and hope you are as well. I've been around but haven't had anything to say of any importance so just sit back and listen, or read as the case may be. Not that posting some old Pat Paulsen for president videos is very important, but maybe a bit enlightening. Isn't it interesting that in the second video, the complaints from 1988 mirror some of the same complaints as of today? Then again, maybe it's not that interesting. I dunno. smile

Heard from Taike last week. He's not going to see his family for 15 more months. Little guy is in Montessori school in Laos.

He is saying Nok (his wife) will send photos soon. I asked for a status report on our monk.

I'm always one week from an Atlanta trip, but my unorganized client there always changes things. Hopefully, it will be soon.

Thanks Russ. I heard from him yesterday and like all good teachers, he's concerned about his students level of motivation. I guess there are so many things competing for their interest these days. Being seperated from your wife for 15 months must be pretty tough..........unless you've been married for 40-50 years smile . I'll talk to you later about HH. If you're thinking about Musicians Village, then yes, it should definitely be 'directed' (and with sufficient specificity). I still think we should think about a 'field trip' down there sometime in the next year.

Let's look at some potential dates. I'D LOVE IT!

I am with you Nigel. My dog saved my life and next to my wife and sons she is my life. I don't trust any politician whatever country but then sometimes you have to choose so in this case I would go for Obama but like you I am not American and don't know the wider issues.

Well,I am not American either. As long as we look into:what's his name, where he's from,is he religious(like that makes person good or bad),we are all going down. And we don't deserve any better.Maybe they should get W back. Why not.He was there before. At least he will never get to smoke those cigars. That is the only thing that matters. It doesn't matter if you are complete moron.

I can see why rich people vote for this republican, but regular people??Why not set yourself on fire. It's the same thing.Do it while bearing firearms. It's your constitutional right as an American.
One of the senators said the Earth is 8000 years old.I can understand individual being stupid and uneducated. But, being highly educated and still being stupid I don't get.How about people that vote for someone like this?
But,what do I know,I am not even American..

Hate everything different.Hate black, hate even white that like black, hate Muslims, hate Jews too(but keep them they have money).Burn religious books.Maybe J C did it too.(I don't think so).HITLER was burning books.

I think we could all do better than this. From East to West.

Maybe this book will help.

"Anti-Intellectualism in American Life: Richard Hofstadter"

I read it forty years ago but it's still right on target.

so sad. Sorry you have all that anger. I hope it doesn't affect the way things are run in your own land. as for me ... I'll take part in the change we need in this land - on Tuesday.

Why is it that anytime anyone expresses an opinion different from our own, we label them as "ANGRY" as if to put them on some kind of guilt trip or better still, turn others against them. I see it so often on this board and always from the same neck of the woods. Yes, we do need 'change' in this country.....in a big way. We need a change from the bigotry, racism, greed, anti-intellectualism, and small-mindedness that keeps us from ever being a truly great nation. And why is it that we bristle so when anyone not a citizen dares to (legitimately) criticize us. We are, after all, far from perfect, even if we like to think so. We conveniently forget our very own history of genocide (Native Americans) and slavery and quite proudly hold ourselves up as the moral beacon for the world. What Bulls---. The legacy of these past injustices continue to this day in the form of job discrimination, voter suppression, super-biased justice system, and the list goes on....and on.....and on. I love my country, it's the only one I know; but I'm not blind to it's faults. I see nothing in the Republican agenda that I think will correct these faults; just more of the hate and fear-mongering that has come to define the party. One only need look at the (RED/BLUE) political map to see the level of divisiveness in this country today. I truly fear for it's future. That's what we REALLY need to be "so sad" about.

If it wasn't angry, it was very sarcastic. Either way - the die is cast for another four years of the same.
Sigh.

Uncle Dave.I was not angry at all.The reality is what is sad in America. And I think it's ok to be angey sometimes too.Thevthing is to teach kids how to handle that anger.Maybe than you'll have much less school shootings in America.Sometimes things look different from a far.
We should all have an open mind and listenvto other people.I know that is not American way,but maybe it's time for change .And change is in our human nature.
It is very dangerous to only read one book. There are many other that look differently from different angles.
But,what do I know.I am not an American.I am only Canadian.
You ask for Obama's birth certificate. Why didn't you ask for W's IQ

I am sorry for spelling or grammer mistakes.I was writing from my phone.
results.Maybe thing would be different.I guess it doesn't matter as long as you are white.

Why not read this book? The one that says, "It is not for man who is walking to direct his own step."

If we can't direct our own step, how can any one of us take the lead in directing others in the right direction?

It fits perfect with this quote, about the blind leading the blind. "If a blind man leads a blind man, they will both fall into a pit."
