Here is a great subject to discuss over a glass of beer with a couple of muso mates.

So I was having a discussion about digital music with a colleague who believes if you record a perfmormance digitally (on one or more devices) and playback on two different digital devices there is the possibility that one might play back at a slightly different speed. (I can explain why its not possible if you like but it might be fun to discuss it)

And then I had a profound thought. Because we are analogue digital music does not exist in our universe. We can't hear or see it unless its converted to an analogue format.

This really has nothing to do with "digital". You could say the same of any recorded music. Music on an analogue record ( or tape ) likewise isn't music until it is played on a turntable and converted to voltages that drive speakers.
