Have done a factory reset - no joy. Have it sitting in a warm environment now to see if that helps considering how cold it has been in transit......

Probably needs the strip under the key bed replaced.
It's a very common problem with PSRs.

Sitting in my warm kitchen with a heater relatively close seems to have done the trick!!!!!!!! Thank God. It seems OK now.

... wow ... just how cold WAS it ...
I remember when I played Cordovox the cold and/or humidity used to wreck havoc on the tuning ... often, when I turned on the 'tone generator' it would emit the sound of a note playing ... got to the point where I would pack a hair dryer to 'warm up/dry out' the tone generator before a gig ...

It must be cold enough to freeze the balls off a pool table, as my grandmother used to say. smile

You better get that Kb checked out, how used was it? previous player might have had a very heavy playing hand....check the key strips you don't want it happening on stage or anywhere ...
Ive never had that problem....& I have left my Kb in the car for months at a time in winter also..good luck with your new acquisition.

Playing it this evening to test it and it has went again. Disgusted isn't the word. I have recorded a quick video of what has happened this time.

Sounds like bad (dirty) contacts that may need to be cleaned...or replaced. Did you try canned air spraying under the key bed?

If you decide to take it apart:
http://www.psrtutorial.com/music/projects/ContactStrips.html

If it were me, I'd contact the seller and if you used Paypal/Ebay you should have some protection.

I can understand your frustration
Good Luck

Hi Larry, thanks for that - yeah definitely seems to be the key contacts but I won't fiddle around with it or attempt to open it.

I have contacted the seller who is arranging a courier to collect the keyboard again, hopefully on Monday. He will not issue a refund though as he says the keyboard was fine when it left him and he doesn't have the money in his bank. He said I should put a claim in with paypal - I have done this and have all conversations via email if needs be.

I just hope I get my money refunded asap and my quest continues!! I really am gutted because I was looking forward all week to getting the keyboard. I was a little disappointed when I opened the bubble wrap as it hadn't been cleaned, had a few scuff marks and stank of smoke!!!! Wasn't too worried about that though as long as it worked and would have cleaned it up as best I could myself.........unfortunately all plans are cancelled when the bloody keys don't work!!

I wouldn't send that keyboard back unless/until paypal tells you to or you could end up with no keyboard and no money. You also need to report it to the carrier.

Yeah, you're right Scott. I have had authorisation from PayPal to return it. I had to give them a tracking number and once it is back with the seller I will get a refund from PayPal.

The seller will be contacting the courier as he has organised it on both occasions.
