In spite of the regrettable audio distortion, I really enjoyed this soulful live Tyros 4 + vocal rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear" performed by Steven Gail: clap

Really creative, Scott - loved what I heard. Couldn't really see much in the background there, but it appeared as if the shoppers in the store could have cared less, which is often the case in that type of venue.

If you recall, several years ago I posted some really unorthodox Yamaha style files for traditional Christmas songs. Thousands of downloads, and lots of entertainers using them, still - including me. Lots of fun to do Rudolph The Rednose Raindeer Regae. wink

Thanks for the link,

Gary cool

Super cool, Scott...I love the way he's workin' those SA audio vocal patches...and really nice solos too.

On top of it all, he looks like he's really enjoying himself.

Good find, indeed!

Hey Gary,
I remember (sort of) those styles, but I can't seem to find them. Any way to post them again, or point to the location link.
Thanks Mate
(sorry didn't mean to tread on Scott's post.)

Thanks for this link, Scott ... the man can PLAY and he certainly knows his way around that board ...

Looks like he was working a Mall, and I actually felt that for that kind of venue the crowd was fairly appreciative ... although I think I only saw two people appear to drop some cash into whatever he was using to collect it frown ... but on the other hand, surprisingly, I only think I saw him acknowledge one of those people, and he didn't seem to acknowledge the applause too much either ... when I am playing a gig and someone contributes to the tip jar, I always give a loud "THANK YOU", one: to acknowledge the gift and two: to let others aware that 'tipping IS permitted' grin

... but the man has talent ...

No, Steven Gail lives and performs 350 miles south of SF, in the Los Angeles area. keys

Scott, Ask him to find out if they will let me set up my Hot Dog cart right there where all of the people are passing.

Boo,

I think it would be neat if you modified your hotdog cart with a keyboard stand attached to the end, with an amp beneath the keyboard, and a sax stand on the side. You could attract your hotdog customers with music, have a good-lookin' Cajon gal serve the hotdogs, and fill the tip jar. Best of all worlds.

Good Luck,

Gary cool

Now I wish I had gone ahead and got the T4.

No doubt about it, he is having more fun than anyone else in this world and I bet he goes home and plays it some more.

Wouldn't be too bad an idea if Yamaha employed Steven Gail to do demos for them. TBH, that video could almost sell me on a T4, and I've been a Korgie since before WWI. Still not wild about the doo-wop voice thing, but I'd have to say that his use of them is the best I've heard yet, even if they're a bit strong in places - but that's part and parcel of a somewhat makeshift 'live' recording. Gotta check out some of his other You Tube vids.

When you get to the video of his wife, you will know why he is so darned happy and I thought it was because of the T4. ;-)

Hi 124, smile
Yamaha is actually well aware of Steven Gail's talent rocker ,
as Mr. Gail had entered Yamaha USA's Arranger Keyboard Freestyle Performance Contest last year,
and was subsequently selected by Yamaha as one of the 7 semi- finalists.
Unfortunately the contest went awry as Yamaha later stated that the integrity of the contest had become compromised. frown

At that time, I had originally posted here on Synthzone, 2 of the videos that Gary provided above. smile wave

Excellent playing. He sounds better than he did in the contest video.

Very inspiring.

Thanks for posting those earlier videos, Scott, I missed them on the first go round. Shame about the contest being scuttled. Maybe Yamaha can do something about the way votes are collected/scrutinised if they run the contest again.
