Doesn't happen often in Dallas but we had a white Christmas this year.

Very cool (literally!) Deane...did the snowfall cause any problems with traffic etc.?

We had a tiny sprinkle of snow here (not as much as you did) and today, it's all gone.

Ian,
Here in the Dallas -Ft. Worth area ANY hint of snow or ice causes and uproar. Mostly it is people who have never had to drive in real winter weather that cause the problem along with the fact our cities are not prepared to deal with ice and snow on the roads. So, yes. With the temps never getting above freezing the next several days a lot of places will close and those with any sense at all will stay at home until the ice clears.

Here on Cape Breton Island, snow is mainly more of a slight nuisance than an issue. However, the first day of snow usually involves a few accidents due to people driving too fast for conditions...after winter starts, there are far less occurrences.

We go from plus 30 Celsius in our two-three months of summer, to minus 30 Celsius in mid-winter...a land of extremes.

Way cool, Deane. I guess when it's a bit of a novelty, you can enjoy it all the more. I'm not too far from Ian at the moment in New Brunswick and, as he reports from Cape Breton, it's pretty mild here as well. Some snow on the ground, not much by Great White North standards, but there's a hefty dump on the way tomorrow, I think.

Still, I'm enjoying this balmy, east coast tropic while I'm away from Alberta, where the brass monkeys have nothing left. At last report from ny brother-in-law it was -24C last night, and the wind was pushing it down to -31C.

Stay warm and vertical, Deane. laugh

Tony,
You nailed it! Nothing but the sun clears most of or roads here.
There will be a lot of areas where people will be "iced" in for a day or two because the temps are staying below freezing all day.

Hammer, we live in North Oak Cliff (Kessler Plaza area) where's there are lots of rolling hills. My daughter and I had fun this morning sliding around the neighborhood on a trash can lid . Hard to believe we were in the 70's a few days ago.

Pretty in pictures. Here in the South, far better to look at someone else's snow than to get it ourselves! LOL
