I agree, Ketron owners should not feel like the under dog! Whilst there is no need to bash other products, the more owners that do talk about their Ketron, the better it is for everyone. I have never spoken a bad word about Tyros or PA3x and I don't see why Audya keyboards and owners should receive the abuse and belittling they have done on this forum.

If there is something you want to share, you have the freedom to do so.

With regards to your programs, if they are older try copying the program folder from your old hard drive to the new drive. Once you have done that find the programs *.exe file and double click on it. You might find it works. A friend of mine borrowed my Paint Shop Pro disk (a program I realy like for some quick editing) as his was stolen - needless to say he lost mine too, but I have copied it over to new installs quite a number of times now.

It wont work with all programs as some write to the system registry and install additional .dll files in the windows system folder - with those you snookered unless you manually copy all the files and edit the registry - very long and painful - take my word for it!

And many haven't even touched a Ketron product & know not what they say.

Bernie,

There you go more info from TWD PC expert on Blighty, the way info is coming at you Bernie a new PC might just be in order, it's OK for people giving you all this advice but when you come to try all these wonderful ideas, something always pops up on the screen that they didn't tell you about, tick the wrong box and bam back where you started. Don't waste too much time on it, go down the PC shack and get a new one.

And TWD is right about the Audya, it's like all KB some love it to bits, others sell it on, just like the Pa3x, T4, etc but apparently not the G70 it has magical powers bestowed upon the users, vocalizer chip burnt in by Roland "sell me and you die !!!

Hi Donny

My excitement has increased, if anything, but it is not good manners to gloat.

Tony

I must admit that the G70 is a classic, and I felt rather bad in selling mine. However, the Audya won.

Tony - yes, I have suceesufully used the "clone onto new disc and repair" technique.

It is reliant on your hard disc faults affectingv the windows system areas of the disc rather than the extra stuff you have added to it. I consider it worth a go because you are not doing anything to the original disc (other than trying to read it) so if the repair (on the new disk) fails the situation should not be any worse than it was when you started.

In my case it took the clone operation 3 days to copy the failing disc, I was lucky that the faulty disc actually had very little data on it and most of the bad sectors were unused.

Hi John

3 days! What size was the disk, as even a full 3TB drive using a USB 2 dock shouldn’t take anywhere near that long? (I suspect you may have meant 3 hrs.)

I always load the disk to be cloned into the computer, as you are then using the much faster SATA (Or even IDE) interface, thus cloning takes next to no time.

3 days correct - very broken 1TB disk - all the attempts to read bad data takes time. I was very lucky that all the stuff I needed was recovered, the disk wasn't very full at all.
