Simple frequency range doesn't really tell the story of a mike. Response over that range is the FAR more important spec (along with polar response and proximity effect).

The human voice has virtually no component over 18kHz... (and Don's right - I seriously doubt any of us has any significant hearing in that range at our age!). Don't get too tied up in specs. Remember, 20kHz is only one octave higher than 10kHz. So the difference between 20kHz and 18kHz is nowhere near as big as you might think from the numbers.

Mind you, if you want to splash some large for a vocal stage mic, give the Neumann KMS 105 a listen. Absolutely the best thing I have ever heard outside of multi-thousand dollar studio condensers.

You're right about that Neumann - I had a KMS105 and I LOVED it ... when I plugged right into a PA, but when I went through my usual chain (through the kb speakers) it did not sound like $500 anymore. The EV 767a has performed great for me for the last few years.

Hank loved that 967, but I didn't like it. Specs are 50 - 13 kHZ!
I much prefer your backup mic! Specs are 35 - 22 kHZ.

Bill, did you ever have to reset the neck on the Guild?

I kind of think you didn't. Seemed really solid when it left here.

Fender is making Guild electrics after the acquisition, and I'm going to get a Starfire single cutaway when they're available.

Russ, just today, I saw an announcement for a whole new series of Guild acoustics... new Guilds. I think that former Gibson icon-acoustic-wizard-designer, Ren Ferguson (who left Gibson) has been working with Guild/Fender.

As for the Guild from you, no, the neck is fine and dandy and I am happy about that because it's not a simple fix on a Guild, it's anything but routine. But, can be done well in experienced hands.

I am going to put a new pickup system in it and there are some new ones these days that are definite improvements to get rid of the piezo quack.
