Hello my fellow Audya users.

First off I absolutely LOVE the keyboard, the features and the sounds.
It's like it was made for me.
I play several instruments at a fairly high level, and I get to use that knowledge, when creating and recording new styles.
Put together with the thrill of listening to the very competent people, who recorded the different live parts.
Not to mention the ketron folkes who thought everything up, in the first place. Hats off to you.

Ok so I have a few minor problems and a major one.

The minor ones are surely due to my own incompetence.

When recording a bassline in style edit, there's a limit to the range of tones I can record, before it jumps an octave (in playback)
I'm sure there's a setting of some sort I missed. ?

I often need to press “midi reset” (two button combo on the left)to sync midi when I'm fiddeling around in style edit. But I guess thats normal.

The major problem I'm having, has only started recently.

The keyboard restarts randomly, and then gets stuck in the startup process.

I did the checklist provided by Tonewheeldude and thank you for posting.

At first there was KetA02 error, which was corrected
Second time around two other errors occurred – also corrected
Third time I ran the (one hour check) there where no errors in the rom check sum.

The only error I have now is in Input/output Midi (Startup/F1->F5->F7)

I'm clinging to the hope that's whats causing the restart

Any thoughts ?

Jonas

Nobody had this problem before?

Tonewheel ?

It shuts off by itself, and then tries to start again,
But only gets halfway through the statusbar before it shuts off again.
It does this off/on a few times before I manually flip the on/off button on the back,
so that it does not take permanent damage.

It was like this, both with 42b and now with 50A.

Is it software in relation to the midi error, or maybe the power distribution ?

I have never heard of this problem before.

Have you checked your AC cable and your AC outlet (are the Live and Neutral correct, Is it earthed?

Powering on and off will most likely damage the hard drive so you must treat it as urgent.

is it under warranty?
does it turn off completely.

the MIDI error is just a result of incorrect test procedure (you need a MIDI cable to run this test)

Switched AC cable (waiting to see if that does it)

Not earthed (only 2 pins)

It powers off completely, and starts the power up cycle by itself.

Last action I remember doing before it started
was importing midi files on a usb stick

And it has been standing close to a radiatior, so maybe the heat could have damaged a circut perhaps?

Why isn't it earthed? It has to be.

blush We are not that advanced in Denmark blush

Not all venues have that.
And I dont have earth(ground/3 pin sockets) in the apartment.

But surely that is dangerous???? Like to the point of death! I did not realise.

If your keyboard were in the UK I would definitely say it is because the keyboard is not earthed. I have no experience with non earthed AC supplies except that it causes big problems with digital equipment.

I think you need to talk to your distributor about this one. They must have more experience in dealing with non earthed supplies.

If the keyboard is not under warranty you could have a visual check of the internal connections to make sure they are all good. it may be something has worked loose.

Ok will do.

Dk has by law 2 years warranty. I guess that has passed but I will check.
I don't suppose Ketron is any different?

The new AC cord has been powering the keyboard for over an hour.
Usually it restarts in less. I'm crossing fingers that it will stay on.

Thanks again for the support.

Wow! No Ground!!!! Not Good!

I'm surprised there hasn't been problems before this!!!

I would advise to call in an electrician and see if he can at least ground ( Earth ) the outlet being used for the Audya and any other sensitive electronic devices!

Not all equipment requires to be earthed, check to see if it has a small square within a larger square on the nameplate, if it has then no earth is required.

If you think about it a lot of keyboards use a wall wart, and the earth pin is normally just plastic, also although it might have a 3 pin plug, if you look at the socket on the piece of equipment it is not unusual to find the centre earth pin missing.

Finally all keyboards have to comply with all local electrical regulations, therefore if premises don’t have 3 pin sockets (And is the norm) then the keyboard will have been designed to take this into account.

Hope this helps

Bill

From Wiki...

Since the early 1990s grounded outlets have been required in all new electric installations in Denmark. Older outlets need not be grounded, but all outlets, including old installations, must be protected by ground-fault interrupters (HFI or HPFI in Danish) by 1 July 2008.

I guess this explains it. You cannot not have HFI, and this one sits before the electricity enters your house/apartment.

Though you still need ground on the socket if you install a dishwasher. But I'm strongly considering it.

We installed it at work (digital mixers and guitar amps) so I'm not unfamiliar with the whole thing cool

But thanks for the concern.
And the Audya hasen't had a restart in 2 days, so there's that.
