Last night I had the pleasure of performing for a large group at a local resort, a job that was supposed to last just 3 hours, but ended up lasting 4-1/2 hours. I had a ball, rocked the house, had lots of dancers, lots of tips, and most of all, a gorgeous view of the Boot Key Harbor as the sun goes down. Just another fun day in Paradise, Gary

I was kinda hoping she would have found a boyfriend by now, but I guess that just ain't gonna happen. Guess she'll let me come home just about the time the grass starts growing and the trees need pruning, the deck needs power-washing, a few bricks need to be replaced in the sidewalk, you know, man stuff. If I still have my health, I hope to make this trip again in 2014. I'll probably break the news to her about a year in advance, that way she'll have sufficient time to locate a good divorce lawyer. Maybe, if I'm real lucky, I'll be able to squirrel away enough money to make the trip before the lawyers get to it. If not, I'll have to find a good-lookin, rich, Cajun gal that has lots of money, don't mind livin with an old geezer on a boat, and would love me singing country love songs to her. No, wait! That's Don Mason's wife. Gary

Here's some vids from today's sail: [video:youtube] http://youtu.be/hGZjBE4VMnc [video:youtube] http://youtu.be/ekh5HK1cs1E [video:youtube] http://youtu.be/ts2p4jiecKQ [video:youtube] http://youtu.be/ND-4VMiSjI0 The neat part about the last video is you can see the shadow of the sail on the bottom of the ocean in 30 feet of water. It looks like 3 gas cans on left side of bow. Is it?
Do you ever get out there and the wind dies and you have to motor in? (I don't know anything about sailing, but, hey, I did write "doldrums" into a song recently. I got that going for me.)
Keep it up, Huck. The mast, that is. Actually, that, in itself, could be taken wrong, lol.

Yep, there are times when there's no wind, or a light wind and lots of current in the opposite direction of where you need to go. Under those circumstances you fire up the engine, a 30-HP Universal Atomic-4 gasoline, and at half throttle, it will send you in the right direction at 6 to 7 MPH. That's if conditions are relatively calm. When it gets nasty, you could be down to 3 MPH, which is a brisk walk speed. The gas tank on the boat is 30 gallons, which will allow me to go about 250 miles, therefore, I carry another 15 gallons for security. That's why the three 5-gallon cans are strapped to the gunwale.
