On all previous PSR and Tyos models, pressing both the + and - buttons resets the tempo. I believe you pressed the wrong button. If you press the "Tempo" button alone, this displays the current tempo. You must press the tempo's + and - buttons at together - this resets the tempo to the style's original tempo.

Gary, I don't think Vangelis' problem is with the actual TEMPO per se ... I think the problem is this:
Let's say he is playing a 4/4 style at TEMPO '90' and the vocalist holds a Whole note for 5 beats instead of 4 beats and comes in on the 2nd beat of the measure instead of the 1st ... the TEMPO stays at '90' but the vocalist is 1 beat off with the keyboard style ... Vangelis wants a quick and easy way to reset the style so that he is 'in sync' with the vocalist ...

OK, if that's the case he needs a new vocalist - someone that hears the keyboard's beat instead of just their own voice. I've worked with a few musicians like that, folks that only hear their guitar, etc..., that's why I work alone.

Cheers,

Another way to possibly handle this would be to use sync start and sync stop together.
It would require using your left hand continuously, and also to be quick and accurate changing chords. But everytime you hit your left hand chord it restarts the beat.
Its the only way I know of on my psr.

Forget it on the Yamaha.

Having faced this in the past (and the same problem exists even more so for SMF's, where they might still be on the beat, but come in a whole bar early!), the only thing you can do is start singing REALLY loudly on the correct beat and hope that they listen to you.

And basically, if this is something that really occurs enough to worry you, drop the singer. No matter HOW good looking she is!
