Fran, you're right about the rough water. The past week has been horrendous, winds to 45 knots, waves to 8 feet, and temperatures much lower than my age. Two days ago, while motor-sailing north in the widest part of Chesapeake Bay we encountered the passage of a huge cold front. Fortunately, the winds were mostly astern, which made the ride a bit easier, but nevertheless, dangerous at times. It was imperative to keep the boat pointed perfectly downwind to prevent a massive wave from crashing over the stern of the boat and into the cockpit. Now that I'm home, I still have my sea legs, which anyone that has been on a boat for days on end, especially in rough weather, knows what I'm talking about. Walking, driving a car, standing, sitting, it still feels like you are still on a rocking boat. After a good night or two on dry land, the feeling goes away and your inner ear stops trying to compensate for the constant motion of the boat. Cheers, Gary
