I just bought a 1985 Buick Rivera that belonged to a favorite professor at University of Kentucky.
Not very valuable, but 30,000 miles and immaculate. Got those big spoked hubcaps that weigh a ton.
No battery and on blocks since the owner died in 2006. My son and I are going over Saturday with a compressor, battery and gas. He's betting it will start.
Sentimental value only...the guy was one of my favorite professors, and I'm now the guardian for his widow. No other family.
Almost bought an old 53 Buick with a straight 8 and a long 6 volt battery years ago. Still going to school and didn't want to spend the bread. Have kicked myself over and over for than one.Was about 1972. Had less than 50,000 miles on it. Owner wanted $1200.00.
My young son and I are finishing a 55 Chevy wagon that has been a rat rod. Don't know exactly how it's going to come out, but its hot as hell on the streets.

The fastest thing I ever rode in was a 1957 Chevy with a 4 barrel carb and a full race cam. I don't have a clue what that means. I just remember the school acquaintance telling me that as he was driving along. I said let's see how fast it is.
He took off and somewhere around 65 miles an hour as I was staring at the speedometer, it lunge like a cat out of a tree to 95 miles an hour. I don't know what that is in a 1/4 mile in seconds, but it just felt like a jet plane to me at the time. Never got in it again.

Fastest car I was was a Griffith. Scared the Hell out of me. The body was made by LT in England and the engine was a Ford Cobra. The 0 to 60 time was 3.57 seconds, if I recall. It was like being strapped to a rocket sled.
Cheers,
Gary

I actually like the Cady in the backround better. My father had one just like it A 54 I guess.
Love to have a big old fat Caddy to cruise around in. We're friends with a woman in NY who has a white on white 85 that she had totally mechanically redone and takes it out of the garage once a month for a run. Keeps it in memory of her late husband. She'd love me to buy it buy no place for me to store it.

I had a 1980 Caddy coupe ... had about 185,000 miles on it when I gave it to our daughter ... she was putting on about 75 miles a day for work so the gas was killing her pocketbook ... she traded it in for a Toyota - of all things - it had 204,000 miles on it ... I used to see it being driven by an 'older' woman after that ... I knew it was the same car by the college sticker on the rear window and the USA medallion on the front grill ... When all the fuss was being made about the "better" Japanese cars, we had 4 GM cars in the family with over 600,000 total miles ...
At 16, I got a 1968 mustang fastback 289 white with 2-tone blue interior. Needed some bodywork, so my dad arranged a friend of his to paint it. It came home bright baby blue. He drove it for a year until I could get a license at 17 (in NJ). I had my license 2 days and totaled it. Driving a girl around and not watching the road......I will have one again..Imagine these baby blue....
