Unbelievable,

I'm sitting with the Audya on my lap, going through all the Ketron Legacy styles one by one using the "disk" function, when suddenly, without any warning, the Audya can no longer read the files on the Ajamsonic Hard Drive.

I did not bump it, I hardly moved it at all, but now, just as I enquire about a solid state Hard Drive, I loose mine... Windows can see the lost files, but cannot fix as there is not enough space on disk.

Thanks be to the wisdom God gave me, for I still have my original Ketron Hard Drive with all the latest Ketron stuff on it bar OS5.0. This afternoon I'll open her up and re-install the original Hard Drive.

If it would cost me too much to have my Ajamsonic stuff restored, I'll just forget about it and stick with the original Ketron stuff instead. I've already spent quite some money on my Audya. In fact, my friend from whom I bought mine 2nd hand, can now get a brand new Ajamsonic Audya with all the latest gadgets for far less than mine cost me thus far in total.

Hell, after all the countless hours I put in to get our Audya ready for our upcoming public performances & outreaches & now this...

I made regular backups of all our Ketron stuff on the previous Hard Drive plus I've got the Ketron restoration DVDs. I did not bother with the Ajamsonic stuff because of the abnormal copy protection that comes with it. I really hope AJ also has restoration DVDs available which I can simply download onto my orginal Hard Drive...

So TWD my friend, I might just be back in your hands and at your mercey... And I now want a solid state Hard Drive more than ever before!!!

Hi AJ,

Thank you for responding to my email query so promptly. I might just have to go for the SSD option, something I should have done long ago. a Normal HDD is just to fragile and the weakest link on the Audya, yet it is the very heart of it.

You know, God really shares His wisdom with us. Last night, for no apparent reason at all, I backed up all the registrations that I prepared for our next performances (I made no other backups to date since upgrading to Ajamsonic). I checked the file size this morning, 30MB. So it did save all my hard earned newly modelled styles with those. I spent countless hours on those.

If I did not do that, not even a new SSD would have saved me. Yes, it costs me more money, but all else will be back in place. Should I get a program that can fix my non working Hard drive, I'll now have three Hard Drives for my Audya. You cannot have more Hard Drrive failure protection than this. Plus I'll immediately start to back up those Ajamsonic files that I'm allowed to on a regular basis!

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

as asked on another topic, what's the advantage of SSD if Audya does not take advantage of its speed

MAYBE that's the advantage of having SSD, RELIABILITY ?

only time will tell...

Hallelujah!!!

My Audya is back online. I installed the original HD. It all took less than an half hour & it's a breeze.

Next I installed all new styles with user drums as contributed by many of you.

Now here's the thing: The registry function of the Audya is one POWERFUL tool. I did not yet load any of the many styles I've uploaded here. Yet out of nearly 500 registry entries, only one did not work properly as saved. I had to take the original SD "Streewise" style and modify it to the one supplied by AJ. Apart from this, EVERYTHING else works as saved. Only those styles without the appropriate user drums or grooves do not show up. And off course no more "Shoo" & "Hey" voices... Man, was I surprised!!! I did not loose a second of all those hours spent.

Plus, she now boots in under a half a minute compared to the 5 minutes I'm used to wait. I'm elated, to say the very least.

AJ is busy preparing my new SSD and til then I'm as happy as can be. a HD without any moving parts is the way to go!!! I should have been completely lost & without the Audya now, but I'm not set back, not even in the least!

Tx Ketron for this FANTASTIC piece of machinery. I get happier with it with every passing day. Tx also be to God for quietely inspiring me to make a backup of the most important stuff less than an hour before I loose the HD. There is no coinsidence in any of it...

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

Yup, it's me again, smile

I have to elaborate on this as this is the REAL miracle:

The last backup I made from the HD was from the non Ajamsonic one September last year. No other backups whatsoever since then.

Then on the evening, roughly one hour before my HD failed, I feel this sudden urge to stop & make backups only of the registries I've created for our outreaches. I do so & wonder why I'm not motivated to back up more stuff, but stop & got right back to playing the Audya.

One hour later I loose my HD! One day later, I'm back in business & I did not loose so much as a single thing that I've prepared for our upcoming outreaches & public appearances.

Now you be the judge of this. There is a saying that goes like this: "One man's miracle is another man's coincidence". The enemy tried to steal from me, but all he could create was a minor disruption...

I have a habit, that when I browse through styles & anything grabs my attention, I save it as a registry right there on the spot. And thus I now have all my favourite styles, regardless of where I found them.

Keep well all my fantastic friends,

smile smile smile a Smiling Henni!!! smile smile smile

I am happy for you, as I can only imagine how you felt. Yes, bad things happen to good people, but in this case, it was only a hiccup.

On with God's work my friend(with Audya's help, of coarse).

Hi Henni,

good to hear that you could fix most of your problems.

But, as mentioned in "my" SSD-thread, ANYTHING can fail. A ssd the same way like an hd.

On the other hand you learned something :

1st : ONE BACKUP is at least 2 too less

2nd : One backup each month is not enough, if you WORK with your machine ( no matter if pc or keyboard ) you should do a backup at least once a week, maybe once a day wink

3rd : Have your hd checked ( windows scandisk or similar ) at least once a month

4th : You know, but for anyone else : Do NEVER, NEVER unplug your Audya from the pc without the "unplug hardware-device" ( I hope itīs correctly translated from the german version ) feature from windows !

5th : Better you never plug you Audya to an Apple-device laugh

Ooops, ... I should make a backup right now ...

Hi Snoopy,

Tx for the advice. The SSD BETTER not fail!!! I can't stand too much of this.

The friend trying to retrieve my data says the HD is shot - it's making noises whilst reading. I honestly never bumped the Audya. According to him those specific type and model of HDs are known for giving problems. I really hope the SSD is more reliable.

But yes, I'll definitely start making regular backups again. But then as you know, if the HD or SDD fails, it's not as simple as restoring the image on a new HD or SSD because of all this copy protection linked to serial number business.

Anyway, hopefully I'll have a new SSD within the next two weeks. I'm really impressed with what AJ did to the Audya & I want it all back asap! It's not the same anymore although it's still one fantastic piece of machinery.

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

Great!!!

My new Ajamsonic SSD will be shipped this weekend. I cannot help it, but I'll never again feel safe with my Audya & a normal HD. Even now, every time I switch it on I feel uneasy.

If I can get the cable in time, I'll opt for a 2nd HD installed. I'll put all midi, MP3, styles etc on that & keep my main SSD uncluttered.

To top it all, I already miss my Ajamsonic sounds. AJ did a GREAT job with all the new voices & styles. His styles are really very well balanced.

Anyway, just a quick update. My little problem did not make me another Audya statistic. I immediately DID something about it...

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

As I understand it, the Audya Registrations save all the information in a separate file, unlike all other arrangers, who's Registrations merely POINT to the files, wherever they may be stored.
I found this out the first time I saved a Registration that included a style from the USB drive. Even after removing the drive containing the style, the Audya Registration was still complete.
This is truly innovative, and also what saved your bacon! smile

Hi DonM,

Yes, that's true, but also not true for all styles. The Ajamsonic styles do their own thing. And I use many of those for my registration setups.

My findings are as follows: If the Registration can find the original style, it will use that with the new parameters. These styles can still be edited and other parts of other styles can be copied into it.

If it cannot find the original style, it saves them somewhere where the user cannot find them. They can also not be edited in the same way as other styles.

The Ajamsonic styles have serious copy protection, & I cannot as yet put my finger on how the registry file treats them. I know if I save the style as a different name, that the registration file will remember the changes, otherwise not. However, if it cannot find this renamed style, it also cannot find it in it's own hidden location.

This is how much I've discovered for now.

Keep well my friend,

Henni

Hi everyone,

Since I've had NO response to my requirement for the internal cable that connects the one ribbon for one USB port to a 2nd HD & since I've now paid in full for my new SSD, this is what I intend to do:

I'll no longer clutter my main SSD with all private stuff. I'll get myself the smallest size biggest capacity USB stick I can find and put all my extra styles, MP3s, Midis and back up registration files on that, exactly like I did with my Yamaha.

I was going through all my extra styles on my HD one by one when it stopped working. I'll not go that route again, I'm rather sensitive now & the memory of that still haunts me. So if my USB stick fails because of all the reading off it, no big deal, as I'll have it contents backed up.

There is absolutely no use in backing up the Ajamsonic SSD as AJ informed me that some of the info are embedded into the SSD or HD itself & cannot be copied in any way at all. So it also cannot be restored onto another drive should the SSD fail again. Hopefully, my drive WILL NOT fail again.

Yes, there's a price to pay for having the Ajamsonic stuff on board, but in my opinion the results are worth it all. AJ really fixed a lot of the style timing issues (I know, because I can now hear those again) and his styles are arranged very professionally to say the least.

Anyway, I've done my part & now I can sit back & quietly wait for my new Ajamsonic SSD to arrive.

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

Great!!!

My SSD is on it's way, UPS already contacted me. Tx once again AJ for the FANTASTIC service I became so accustomed to expect from you. I cannot recommend the Ajamsonic upgrade enough to all the rest of you out there. I am more than elated with mine & there are many things I now miss sorely whilst waiting for my new SSD.

I find AJ to be exactly the opposite of the suggested "no care" attitude displayed by Ketron Italy, although I've never yet had direct dealings with them myself. AJ has always been quick to respond to any of my queries/suggestions & yes, he did respond to ALL of them. I really feel like I am in safe hands with my Audya & I cannot complain about lack of support at all!!! In my world, AJ IS mr. Audya - period!

I have the absolute best arranger on this planet with all the absolute best updates available for it. I truly am in arranger heaven!

I guarantee that Ketron will follow suite soon and that the Audya will come out with a 120GB SSD as standard. And just maybe AJ will come out with repeatable intros & endings before Ketron Italy will...

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

Hi all,

Yesterday I received my new Ajamsonic SSD with all the latest on it. I could never utilize all the new Ajamsionic sounds before as my Audya is one of the first models which do not accept more RAM without extensive electronic modifications.

To my utter AMAZEMENT!!! AJ included a brand new sound board with the new memory already installed with a note to say I can pay him later for it (the price for it is extremely reasonable!)

What service!!! Ajamsonic really rocks!!! Man, I only have GOOD things to say about my Audya experience. We had visitors yesterday, and only during the night could I start to play with all my newest goodies.

I am once again blown away by what I have!!! For the first time, all new sounds required are loaded into memory & now all styles sound the way they were intended to & the way they were created. It's like having a new arranger & once again I'm in arranger heaven.

The new voices are beyond description. They make the existing & new styles shine. The default Ajamsonic voice selection for the different variations for the different styles is superb! The new styles (yes, already there are many new ones) are superb!!! The new super styles are just AMAZING!!!

The audio parts on the factory Audya stands out a little too much. You can hear them in just about every style as great emphasize have been put on these. It sounds nice eventually, but after a while it becomes boring. Well, AJ re-balanced everything and now all you hear is just real sounding, well balanced, fantastic real world like styles.

It came with many, many new onboard Ajamsonic demos. I'll post most here over time & I'm totally convinced you'll be as impressed as I am. I cannot see how anyone could have an Audya without the Ajamsonsic conversion. You are loosing out on a LOT all my good friends.

My Ketron rocks!!! AJ's service rocks!!! AJ's upgrade rocks!!! What an arranger!!! What service!!! What happiness!!! Thank God for giving me the intellect to choose right!!! I am a happy chappy!!!

All the best my many good friends,

Henni
