It looks like a shortened A-frame with a laptop and mixer on top, and keyboard below. I used to use an A-frame many years ago, but it was too high.

I would like to know too.

Yeah, the cross members. You don't seem to understand that the A-frame, as is, is a towering hulk, not conducive to seated play except for in between the obtrusive end pieces.

That's my problem. I have used my old A-frame as a Tinkertoy set. I have made so many stands and brackets out of it that there may be just enough left for a cut down A-frame.

I was at the gig! I think I took the photo. I it was great to see the master at work. I got to meet Don's lovely wife and some of his friends too. Real nice folks. Thanks for a great evening Don. I need to shed on some country stuff now... I'm inspired!

Hi guys,
I'm using Korg PA3x on first shelf of Ultimate Support A-frame, made from various pieces.
On top is a case to hold mixer, laptop, power supplies and recorder. Mic stand is attached to the kb stand.
The top comes off the case, then I turn it around and hook it back on so it hangs down and shows my name, while hiding cables.
I wasn't using the laptop and didn't need the mixer, but they are there just in case. The mic is processed only through the keyboard and everything on the mixer is set flat. I do use aux outs from the mixer to record myself. For sound I used two Bose Compacts.
I have another stand that I made from parts that is smaller and even more portable. My attic is full of a-frames and parts.
They are the most versatile and lightest in weight of anything that has come along since, and I've had them at least 20 years, maybe longer.
I was able to sit back, eat my catfish and listen to Paul play a few songs. He sings "real good" as they say around here, and seemed to be pretty much at home on the Korg as well.
It was a fun evening! He even rode around on my golf cart for the last couple of holes.

Don, what a great idea, utilizing your Top, to double as a Name display sign and to hide cables.

Paul ... for me, one of the great things in life is to see pros like Don and Donny (sounds like a 50's duo - all they would need is a female named Donna grin ) in action, as I have had the privilege of doing ... and meeting their backbone- their lovely spouses - and some of their friends makes it even better ...
I've also had the pleasure of seeing SteveM -who has been mighty scarce around here since he took up photography frown - perform and meet his wife, as well as meet up with Gary and his wife ...
Thanks for taking the photo, but DAMN, I wish it had been a video ...

Tony,

If you and Lydia ever get back down this way I'll take you both sailing, then grill some tasty fillet mignon on the boat's gas grill before heading back to the dock. Makes for a nice day.

Keep in touch,

I'm thinking seriously about heading south sometime in late January or early February, so for me, that would be a good time for another jam.

Yeah, but now I have a gas grill on the boat, and this boat is huge compared to the other one. All the comforts of home, and on the water.

how many KB's can you set up on that thing Gary? ... grin

the problem with January or February could be bad weather travel conditions... but otherwise that could work...

I set up the complete rig on the bow of the boat one night at a marina in northern Florida, had the place rockin and there was lots of room to spare. I guess I should have taken a photo of that. Keep in mind that my rig takes up very little space, less than 6-feet wide and maybe 4 feet from the back of my chair to the front of the keyboard. Here's a photo of the rig set up at the Tiki Bar at Sombrero Resort in Marathon, FL.

Another view from the Marathon City Marina where I played every Saturday night.

Just before firing up the keyboard and the Saturday evening performance, this was the view I had while setting up.

Damned I sure miss that place. If I would have been single, I would have never returned to Maryland. The pay is lousy, but the tips were great during tourist season, which is from early November till mid April. Now you know why Diki stays at the resort area he's at.

Probably drive down this time, late January or early February, spend a couple weeks playing and jamming in the Keys, then make my way west and visit with the Louisiana contingent before heading back home. Might be another year before I take the boat that far south again, but like I said in another post, my mind keeps making appointments my body can't seen to keep. wink

Donny, you must be kidding! The boat weighs just over 15,000 pounds, is 33 feet long, 13 feet wide and from the keel to the top of the cabin is just over 14 feet. Can't put anything with those dimensions on the roads.

Joe, I guess you could have said that, at least some of the time. Especially when I was trying to hide from Hurricane Sandy in Myrtle Beach. Winds in the marina got to just over 50 MPH and we had one Hell of a Hurricane Party. Fortunately, the storm turned north when it got about 150 miles offshore.

Cheers,

Gary cool

Imagine trying to put this brute on a trailer. This was taken last week in 20-knot winds. My daughter Laura is at the helm.
