The experienced players with know how from Roland and Audya camps will not be "jumping ship" ....It is about the sound and professional components ..

G70 will continue to reign in the Roland camp..and Audya in Ketron camp...I would not be surprised to see the experienced Korg (PA3X)..camp staying loyal too...You can't fool everyone

Korg and Ketron, and, of course, Yamaha, are still producing TOTL arrangers...clearly there is a good market for these sleek up to date flagships.

Mmmmm...the old(er) Roland G-70, now out of production, was a very well equipped ship in it's day, and still is a real pleasure cruiser....

Just kidding, Fran..I know you love your G-70 to pieces...what I find hard to understand, with all the great new products and technology recently introduced by Roland (the Jupiter 80, the V-Piano, Ateliers, etc,)why Roland didn't go whole hog and really use all these great new ideas to create a worthy G-70 replacement. The BK-9 is pretty good, but it lacks those old Roland TOTL features like the G-70's nice semi-weighted, aftertouch keyboard, touchscreen (G-70 was allegedly one of the best) and...well, you probably know more about a wish-list than me.

Do you think they will ever do another TOTL?

If I wasn't playing in a live band, where the G70's touchscreen is at a premium, I'd be on the BK-9 already, Fran. It honestly is a HUGE improvement over the G70 in most areas of sound and usability.

The action takes some getting used to, but it's no worse that Korg or Yamaha TOTL actions, and massively better than Yamaha's MOTL offerings.

And, if you are using styles, the synced audio loops can make some awesome Latin or modern loop music possible, truly quite a meeting of arranger ability and workstation sound...

I'm a believer, Fran. Sure, I miss the touch screen, but an iPad is in my near future, and then I'm cool..!

And Ian... I sort of see Roland testing the MOTL waters with the BK-9. If it flies, we might see Roland test the TOTL market out again.

So, Fran, since my question was originally directed at you...do you think Roland will ever do another TOTL arranger in the same vein as your G-70, with aftertouch, touch screen etc?

And also, what's happening with no BK-9's in your area...aren't the local dealers going to bring one in for you to try?
