I traded some used stuff to a local GC and got the 950. First, I got the PA900 but was disappointed vs my old 800. Next up, tried 950. Just not my gig...........trade for something anyone? (2 weeks old, can still return)

How about an inflatable 10-foot dinghy with a 3.4-HP Tohatsu outboard - used lightly in the Florida Keys. Or, a PSR-3000 plus $500. The dog died, and the wife won't move north.

Is there a master fx setting. everything is drowned in reverb - ugh
I think you should try and stay with the S950. There are options to tweak the sounds. I have both a T4 and S950 and the S950 "can" compete with it, that's how good it is.

BTW - I used to own a PA 800 as well... I havent touched a PA 900 but cant imagine why it wouldnt please you more than the 800?? surely its a step up?
then again.. nothing beats the keybed feel of the PA3x... its another league from the PSR & PA800/900 series. I even prefer it over the FSX keybed on the tyros / Motif line.

Hi Nick,
Have you not given the sounds of the S950 a chance? Leave the keyboard comparison aside for now, you can't compare a TOTL with a MOTL for aesthetics. The sounds on the S950 are top quality & styles have been taken from the majority of T4.

I've had PA3x and now own the PA900, and I can say that the key feel is remarkably similar. It's almost the same, if in fact it's not actually the same. It's tight and responsive, and has a great, solid feel. Unless you play them both side by side, I bet you'd agree. The 900 feels great and has many improvements over the 800.

I also have the Pa900 and have been thinking about going for the 3X - I am curious about your liking the Pa900 over the 3X.
I know the 900 has a 1" wider display and that helps and also the 900 will load in SF2 font files and the 3X won't, but there is so much more on the 3X.
I didn't like 900 first go but would end up like Nick and probably fall in love once I dumped the 950. But I'll move fwd to the 3x, 61 or 76. The 950 is a nice board and has killer stuff and I'm not going to diss it - just not for me.

Hi Danny,
Its not so much the sound quality... its more the "playability"... if that makes sense...
most of the styles are designed specifically for a particular song. so u cant really use them for anything other than the song they were designed for... well you can.. but they are very busy and just not so much "generic"...
above all - the keybed just deosnt do the sounds any justice either. it feels like bashing a toy keyboard... I just dont seem to have the "control" or feel of playing a piano/keyboard with the PSR...
Sorry for the thread hijack....

Russ, not proud of my past SD5 rants (thx anyway)! After thinking od UD's success and Nick's comments, going to give the 900 another try and actually very excited to go full circle (not that anyone cares)

Zuki if you don't like the exchange that you made, I have a Mortar mixer, a brick saw, a trailer, 1000's of dollars of brick tools, cement and bricks you can come pick up and bring the keyboard to Colorado. Let me know ASAP because there's a guy in Louisiana who wants to swap my gear for 25 tons of boiled crayfish, okay?
