Tony, tell me this...did you use the PA-600's Chord Sequencer during this song, or were all solos played using both hands, Left Hand on chords, Right Hand on melody?

A friend of mine with a Korg wants to know what style you used?

Again, nice job...I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ian

... Thanks guys ... I was hesitant to put it up here, but now I'm glad I did ... it was different enough from Gary's ...

Ian ... I used the 'Unplugged Slow' style, and obviously changed the voices ... STS 1 - the piano throughout is the 'Tine E. Piano' in Up 1 doubled with the 'Dyno Tine EP 1' in Up 2; STS 2 - the organ is the 'Jimmy Organ DNC' in Up 1; STS 3 the guitar is the Nylon Slide Pro in Up 1 and Up 2 and tripled with the 'Finger Key Off' in Up 3; LH is the 'Choir Light' ...
No CS ... right hand only on melody, left hand chords (sustaining the 'Choir Light' throughout) ...
I also added pads of 'Gtr Nylon Arp 2' somewhere around the middle and 'Grv Brush' the last chorus ...

The song sounds fairly simple but it has certain 'subtleties' I found challenging - including the low F to the Eb an octave higher (sung in Bb [G min]) eek2 ... I usually don't have a problem hitting that Eb, but I found it tough in this tune ... might have been the phrasing ... smile
Thanks again, much appreciated ...

Wonderful job Tony! It's a great job. I think I'm the one that got Gary interested in it. I think I need to post my version. It sure is different too, because I just sorta guess at the melody. smile

Tony,

I loved your rendition! The guitar solo/arpeggio was really beautiful and I agree with Ian's about the organ adding solemness. It's a song that, when it ends, makes you wanting for more.

Thanks again, guys ... It means a lot to get such positive feedback on this board, not only for the performance, but for what went into it as well ...

Don, I would love to hear your version ... thank you for bringing this song to our attention and I thank Gary for posting his version ... I just had not thought of it as a song to perform ...

Tony,
I love hearing personal "renditions" of the same song and yours is no exception. I liked the style arrangement used, ESP hearing those classic Korg keyboard instrument voices so missing on Yamaha boards. Nice playing too.
I might suggest moving the key up a 1/2 step and instead of pushing your "chest voice" to hit the high notes in full chest, transition into "head voice" or "falsetto" to reach the high notes soft and intimate.
Merry Christmas and the best in 2014 to all.

Scott

Scott ... thank you for your comments ...
I may give that 1/2 step a try - hmmm Bb to B - may be easier to use the TRANSPOSE button for that one wink - ... however, the 'head voices' (voices in my head smile ) are saying that the falsetto might not work ... but it is worth a try ...

If I decide not to play golf today, I'll try to post it. It's going to be tough though because it is in mid-70s already!
