My 47-year-old son got together with his old band a couple weeks ago in Baltimore at a local night spot where the somewhat younger crowd hangs out. His old band, which broke up a decade ago, opened for another band. The crowd, however, didn't want his band to leave the stage. Now, they play music that I would never attempt, it's a 5-piece band and tonight he sent me one of the leads he did with his guitar. When I played lead guitar, it was in a country band, so my fingers never had to move very fast. However, in a rock band, today's rock, those fingers fly across the frets and very, very accurately. I was absolutely awe struck listening to the file he emailed me. The song is called Fourteen.

Fourteen

Wow! Pretty wild stuff, but well done.

Any idea of what gear he's using Gary?

Sounds like a Les Paul to me, as they have that kind of bite, but I've heard modded Fender Strats and PRS guitars getting into that sonic area.

Your son is a very capable player...you must be very proud of him.

What does he think of arrangers? Cool? Too tame?

Ian, I'm not sure of the guitar make and model, but I know it was very, very expensive. As for keyboards, he currently has one of my old PSR-3000s and really enjoys it. He created some style files for his kind of music and then made midi files for backing. His band mates seem to like that 3000 as well.

I'm very proud of him and he and I are both avid boaters. However, his boat, a 25-foot powerboat, is a gas guzzler that moves about the same speed as a rocket sled. wink

Cheers,

Very impressive. If they have a web site, YouTube, Twitter, FB... send a link. I'd like to hear more!
