I don't think that is the problem, because loading a MIDI file should still play regardless of the local setting.

Hello,

if the Program Menus - Midi - Part Setting "Local" is set to OFF, no sound will be heard!
It does not matter whether Midi File or style.

Hi

Alwas sad when something wrong happens with our keyboards.
Long time since I had a KN2k, but it's a great keyboard.

Some steps to try out:

1. If you use a swell/volume pedal, unplug it.
2. Check that volume for each part are above zero when look in display.
3. Try only the headphones plugged in, and push and drag the jack in and out a bit to see if there is a bad connect.

If nothing happens, sound still dead, it's probably the final transistor for outgoing sound that is defect.
If so, next step will be to visit a serviceshop.

KN2000 is probably less money as second hand at eBay than a repair will cost?

Hopefully your problems is sorted out very soon.

Thank you very much for suggestions and response. Having not being able to play for the last couple of weeks has forced me into withdrawal so I broke down and bought a Yamaha PSR s750 workstation. I will still actively purse trying to get my KN2000 repaired as it is a great keyboard. I have located a repair technician here in Toronto and I am awaiting his call. I will let you know what the outcome will be ! Thanks again for your response and support!
