When I was first introduced to Irish music while living in Europe, I hated it too. Simple tunes with too many words in them. But like anything.....the simplistic beauty of the music starts to grow on you. And the lyrics........every song tells a story.....usually about "mother" "Irish patriotism" "drinking" or some woman that you left behind and still pine over!
I had the same experience with German music. I worked in a German Bierkellar....played the music but couldn't stand the stuff. Then one day it all comes together and suddenly you start to look at the music differently. And then.......you can't get enough of it!
Kind of like everyday life......I remember when I couldn't care less about Rocky Road ice cream. Now I like it so much I can eat myself into a coma with it!
