Out of curiosity, what's the best solo YOU'VE ever heard in a recording?
I'd also have to go with the Jeff Baxter guitar solo in Donna Summer's Hot Stuff and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar solo in Highway Star/Deep Purple among a few others.

Hank Jones piano solo on Autumn Leaves - (Cannonball Adderly feat. Miles Davis). You don't have to be a 'jazzer' to appreciate the beauty, simplicity, and tastefulness of this piece of musical magic. He was also a true gentleman and hugely respected among his peers. Sarah Vaughn's favorite accompanist.
