Hey, I resemble that remark !!!

I should mention a friend of mine almost never plays gigs but makes a living recording music tracks for library music that get picked up and used by TV shows, commercials etc. And those tracks can get used over and over again providing an ongoing stream of income for him. Of course they all need to be be original compositions. He just works on increasing the number of tracks that he has available. Most of it is smooth jazz which appeals to many countries.

The pov of this peice of journalisme is totally different then that of an OMB making a living from playing on gigs...

Its from teh Pov of young musicians wanting to make a breah trough in Music...

1/2 my gigs are to generate high dollar work for my daytime production company.

At this age, not sure why I continue to do the ones that USED TO result in me getting laid (LOL)!

... and so what's bad about playing accordion on a corner? A good corner could reap a tidy sum ...

I mean we would play for the sake of playing. A street corner can be a really good gig for some people. Those of us who have the music within us have to let it out somehow and hence, we would play at home in the basement or out in the elements. Some of us just need to play and others feel the need to be heard.
