Get your eyes checked - I can see everything just fine, even without glasses. In fact, this is the best display Yamaha has ever produced for a PSR series keyboard. And, from what I've seen, their new display is far superior to the competition. Them peepers might not be up to snuff, Donny. This stuff happens when you get old - that's why I had eye surgery. Sure made a big difference in brightness and clarity of what I can see in comparison to pre surgical.

Gary the display needs to be much LARGER and able to tilt up like Tyros models, I sit very low so the angle is not the greatest flat....
my eyes are 20/20... cool2
The clarity & brightness is fine but the overall display SIZE is too small for Lyrics and MFD and be able to fit more reg on a page also.....

Is an upgrade due yet ? I thought it was a bit too soon? I'm guessing the update will concentrate on the audio route and contain another 25 audio styles maybe taken from the T5. If that does turn out to be the case I think you'd be pretty disappointed Donny!

Upgrade? confused1 .....it's pretty much old technology now & moving at a snails pace compared to whats up to date in the computer world eek2 ...players are asking for much more in technology regarding Arranger Kb's / Synths, Electronic instruments today.....how long will it go on using
"old technology" to try to keep up with today's "modern music"
Styles Alone ain't just gonna cut it anymore!!.....
these arrangers need to be juiced up with more features in all areas to compete with the needs of today's music creation......I'm sure Yamaha knows this very well, so lets see what they come up with next. How long that will take is unknown territory so far.

Different strokes for different folks. I MUCH prefer the sound of the Korg. I miss some of the guitars, but I still have good ones.

I wonder about the sound thing - to me anyone having any of the current arranger keyboards complaining about the sound simply does not know his/her keyboard. If you know the sound you want, then you must take the time to learn how to get it on your keyboard. Having said that, however, I must say I think it is easier and more possible on the current Korgs.

Donny, you could always utilize the video out feature and use an RGB monitor, or fire it into your laptop, either of which will allow you to select any screen size, quality and position you desire. For me it's not a problem, and when I do need lyrics that are not stored in my head, I use the laptop, which is easily accessed via my hidden mouse. I sincerely believe that the S-950 will be the last arranger keyboard I will ever purchase. If I get two more years out of my body parts and can continue to perform for that much longer, I'll be a happy sailor.

Most likely a better option is to use a 10" tablet,
iPad or Android only for their bright displays,
battery longevity and lightness....

instead of a laptop somehow confused1

Not as far as I know Donny, the video out on the S950 is for a television the inputs on most tablets are micro-usb and possibly HDMI the tablets don't support PAL and VGA.

You're right, Col. The tablets don't support that type of video.
