Talk about a "Senior Moment"! Today I drove to my gig and when I started unloading my gear and opened up the back door to my car there was no keyboard in the car!! Yep, I forgot to pack it up when I left home.

I attached pictures of the gig setup I used today to just DJ the gig. Oh well, could be worse.

I've forgotten all sorts of stuff too... Just recently I forgot to bring my mic stand. I got through my show OK: I held my mic with my RH and played styles with my LH. Yes, the show must go on!

only thing I ever forgot was the power cord for the keyboard ... fortunately the gig was less than 10 minutes from my home so my wife drove it to me while I was setting up ...

When I was using various kinds of keyboards I once loaded the wrong power adaptor for the keyboard I had taken. Used my iPhone to DJ that one. Unfortunately, where I live making quick round trips to get a forgotten item is not an option. Usually at least an hour each way - if I'am lucky!

Been there done that. Made a super 40 minute dash back home and even faster dash back. Started 1/2 hr. late but no one noticed at this senior dinner. Except for the fact I was a wreck it all went well .
Also close to home had a keyboard act up but close to home and my wife dragged my backup but heavy Ensoniq KT76 out of the basement to the gig. Gig money went to take her out to dinner.
One more. Drove to Atlantic City 2.5 hrs. for a Christmas cocktail party and forgot my Christmas book !! Faked all the Christmas songs I could and went to the regular stuff eariler.
I now stand there and look at my packed stuff in the car and od a mental checklist
Not foolproof but I've bee good for awhile

LOL. Have done the same thing, but I forgot everything. My trunk was empty. The AD was so mad, she never booked me again.

I've been fired from two assisted living places....one for not being able to play live because of a forgotten power cord. I DJ'd...but that wasn't good enough. The second time was over a passcode needed to get into the dining room. Nobody was there to put the passcode in so I went to the GM's office and she gave me the code. The AD was pissed saying I wasn't allowed to have the code and she resented me going over her head to get it. Sheeesh. Some battles cannot be won.

After too many similar situations, i finally got smart and put together an emergency bag that lives under the seat of my truck, containing a spare mic, mic cord, spare power supplies for every piece of equipment i use, sax strap, and a couple standard power cords (a 50 ft extension cord lives under the other seat). And i leave a keyboard stand, mic stand, and folding bench behind the seat. Though i did have to have my wife bring my expression pedal to a (band) gig one time, so may need to add spares of that and a damper pedal too.

I do have a list to make sure everything that should be in my big bag of cables (audio, speaker, MIDI, power, etc.), pedals, mixer, etc., gets packed. My big fear would be arriving at a gig and realizing that the bag i so painstakingly packed was sitting at home on the practice room floor.

When set up at home, my gear is set up the same as it would be for a gig ... so usually all I have to do is pack everything and cart it off ... of course, making sure it all gets into the truck is the tricky part ... wink

Ditto, Tony. Being half of a duo, I've got an extra pair of eyes to check on things. So far, so good.
