I just realized over the week-end that, probably 25% of my "music" income isn't generated by playing music at all, but sounds.
If you take a minute, you'll see that we're all inundated by SOUNDS. Literally everything you hear on radio, see/hear on TV
and in movies...even stuff on computer productions has a fascinating combination of sound effects and music.
Literally everything I do for a living involves the production of sounds and music. Next week in Detroit, I'll be shooting a video on an Italian staircase kit. When I get to the editing stage, I'll be writing and producing the score, which will be part VO, part music and part sound effects. On Thursday it's over to Louisville. I'll be working on the score for the video annual report on a large shipping company. Then, on Friday and Saturday, it's beck to a club playing tunes.
I imagine Nigel is a better video game programmer because of his music background and abilities.
The tracks on our productions are what sets our work apart from some others.
Next time you see a great movie or watch your favorite TV show...even you favorite newscast, pay particular attention to the tracks, and know that there's a musician behind a keyboard "sweetening: the production.
It's EVERYWHERE...it's EVERYWHERE!
