Hi, some of my styles have vanished from my sd card and I get an error 81 message.
Anyone else had this problem.

I'm wondering what size your card is? When I first got my KN7 it came with a miserly 8mb Card and I had a similar message come up on the screen. On making enquiries with Technote as to why, I was told it was "FULL" and was advised to get another card with at least 256mb on it. I asked why the KN didn't come up with the message "Card FULL" but they couldn't tell me? Too simple for the 'boffins' I suspect.

Could be your answer though.

Regards

Audrey

Do they show in a card reader in a computer ? In other words, are they gone,or not being read properly ?

Looking at the KN7000 Service Manual, there is no Error Message 81. The list starts at 00 and ends at 71. The Manual is dated, 2002. Appears the manual is not up to date. If I remember correctly, someone else posted Error Message 8l some time ago.

I've just had another thought on your problem. Take a close look at the back of your card to see if the little gold panels are 'scratched' or marked in any way. I once had a 256mb Panasonic card which allowed me to use it two or three times and then wouldn't load properly. It either told me "the file you are trying to load is empty" or the red light that comes on when you actually load the SD Card itself, wouldn't go off but just kept flickering.

The answer was a faulty SD Card which was replaced by the retailer immediately as it was under 'lifetime guarantee'. No problem with the new one since.

Hope this helps.

Here's some thoughts for you Gerry...
If having started to save a registration to your SD Card you switch the keyboard off too quickly thinking its done its saving job, that can have the effect of corrupting other earlier saved files if not all of them...
Another thought, if you were entering the realms of saving Audio files to your SD Card using SD Jukebox, that can cause a similarly disastrous effect on what's already saved on your SD Card - I try not to mix audio files with normal live play saved files any more as a result of this experience!!!

Thanks for that tip Roger. I wasn't aware of this type of corruption. Will "watch it" in the future. It is heartbreaking losing all your files in this way, so your tip is much appreciated.

All the Best.

I loaded a sequenced song, Tea for Two, which I had not played for a long time,
and [Error 81, An error as occurred while the SD was loading. Please try again],
appeared and as requested I tried again, and Error 81 came up again.
While staring at the message, trying to fathom out what could be wrong,
the message disappeared and the sequenced song was loaded. I have loaded the song several times, and each time it comes up Error 81, and each time I wait for a short time,
the message clears, and the sequenced song is loaded.
Perhaps your style may be loaded.
Just a thought.
I use SanDisk 256mb.
Best wishes,
Fred Wren.

One Moral of the story - KEEP REGULAR BACK-UPS of all your SD Cards on your PC and even transfer them to removable media such as CD, or Memory Stick, in case of a PC Crash.
Like many other players, I have literally Thousands of hours of irreplaceable work on SD Cards. I would hate to think that due to one small 'slip' or 'glitch' that I would lose the lot or even some of them!
