Anyone have a trick for remembering which of the four multipads to press when playing live? On a given song, I might find a multipad that I like and I might like a certain version(button 3 for instance). But for the life of me, I don't remember to hit that particular one when I am playing the song.

Suggestions?

...isn't there a screen that shows you what pads are available in the style you are playing? ...

If you use a chart or lyrics sheet you could make a notation there. Or you could make a registration and name it, for example, "Brown-eyed Girl (P3). P3 of course means use pad 3.
Or you could save the Style to User and rename it something similar.

Tony unlike KORG's that OTS View is another feature that Yamaha needs to incorporate into their future KB's, Tyros/S-series, besides updating the MFD to incorporate ALL Registration info including transpose, and enlarging the MFD text size,& the overall display size itself it needs to be MUCH BIGGER with less wasted space as it is now....

Here is how I deal with it:
I save all my songs in Registrations. If I need a specific Multipad I save it as Sync Start by pressing "select & the desired Multipad" at the same time. Then save to registration. The Multipad will be blinking, so you know which one it is.
If I don't need it right away I simply turn it off at the beginning of the song.
Hope this helps
Eric

First and foremost, with Yamaha, the multi-pad is attached and directly associated with the style file. Therefore, when you select that particular style, you automatically select the attached multi-pad. Now you have a couple options:

1. You could change the multi-pad of the style file, then save the style as a custom style and every time it is accessed, the new multi-pad would come up with the style.

2. You could also save the information to a registration, but if you were to change style variations during a song, the multi-pad would revert to the default multi-pad. Therefore, you would have to make all your changes through registrations in order to avoid this problem.

Personally, I would go for option #1, and I would rename the style file to the song title. Makes life a lot easier.

Many thanks to all who gave advice.

The whole thing was much easier than I thought. When I was in the registration mode, I edited(deleted)the multipads I didn't want and lo and behold the only selection that showed up...for that song...was the multipad I wanted.

Worked great at a gig for Vet's today. Makes life simpler.

Thanks all.

To Guitpic1:

You mentioned "When I was in the registration mode" ... I'm curious what this is? That is, how (or what button presses) do you get into "registration mode" such that you can delete some MPs? I might find this useful too. Did you have to save the edited MultiPad (with some buttons 'deleted') as a new MultiPad and use that in your Registration? Or somehow delete them (MP buttons) and just save it in a Registration?

I'd love to know the details of the procedure you went through to make this work - sounds like a good idea!

Thanks,
Jim
