This is for Tony and Russ and any other jazz fan.
Last Friday I visited my brother who is in a Nursing Home.
Another resident is Don Burrows (Montreax and Newport Festival appearances), and in my opinion "the best jazz musician this country has produced", who had his 86th birthday on Friday.
Some of his muso friends decided to entertain Don on this occasion.
I was fortunate to be there when they were setting up and hung around to see the show.
WOW!!! what a blast. Don was James Morrison's mentor, who could not be there but Bob Barnard on trumpet was a great replacement, with Paul Macnamara and Keith Hunt on piano, Col Loughnan on sax, Dave Purdy on bass, Johnny Nicol on guitar and vocal, and Laurie Thompson on drums.
I'm not sure if some of the names are familiar stateside, but google them to see their qualifications.
GREAT stuff and bro and I surely enjoyed the afternoon in elite company.
I need a nudge like this sometimes to stir my enthusiasm and this day sure did the trick.
See Ya Guys
