Over the years, I read Ian's comments with a little irritation (at first); then, with a little more concentration.

In the last six months, in my mind, he has become one of the outstanding posters here; particularly, when it comes to showing in depth analysis, intelligence, flexibility of thought, tolerance for other ideas and beliefs and commitment to his ideals and principles.

At first, I guessed that he was a moderately well rounded musician. Now, I realize, he is open-minded, while being extremely well informed about jazz, in addition to other music art forms.

His posts concerning his opinions on organized religion were some of the best in that thread...well thought out...to the point, without the bitterness and pettiness that sometimes results.

All in all, someone I enjoy and learn from.
