With most people using TC Helicon products or VH2 in their Yamaha keyboards, I thought I would post an example of the quality harmony produced by Digitech. Don't know why this company isn't more well respected. Helicon seems to dominate this niche market.

Very nice job on this tune. Your vocals and harmonies are spot on, sounds really good. The Digitech certainly demonstrates it can stand up to the TC Helicon. What model of the Digitech are you using? I don't know why more people seem to use the Helicon,, possibly price? not sure. I would certainly enjoy listening to more tunes with you singing through the Digitech. Thanks for posting.

which unfortunately is no longer available ... it has a great feature in that there are a number of harmony presets that just follow your singing voice with no MIDI connection needed ...
Since owning the Pa900, I've discontinued using the digitech for one hour NH/Assisted Living gigs because the on-board VH is more than adequate ...
This summer has been VERY busy (fun busy mostly - traveling, visiting family and friends, having family and friends up to RI for visits), but once it slows down I want to do some recording and compare the two harmonizers ...

See you are a fellow Canadian! I am using the Digitech Vocalist 4 which has been replaced by the Vocalist 5. When I did my initial digging on harmonizers I thought I would like the then current TC Helicon Voice Live 2. That decision was based on Helicon's reputation. I was hoping to rent one because I wasn't keen on spending $1200 without thoroughly checking it out. Long and McQuade didn't have one so I rented the Digitech V4. Eventually they loaned me a Voice Live 2 overnight. Still had the Digitech which I was pretty impressed with. Was able to compare them side by side and for me the Digitech was a far better choice. I was able to get it for $400. I therefore saved $800 and ended up with the best sound. I would put my Digitech up against anything TC has to offer.

How Could I Ask For A Better Friend

I bought a desktop Digitech which is small enough to fit on the keyboard and does midi. When Phil Everley passed this winter I wrote this song as a tribute to one of the men who inspired me to be a musician and singer. This Digitech has the same great harmony as my V4. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

I'm currently working with my venerable old Korg PA 80 and my Yamaha PSR S750. I have given some thought to saving for a PA 900.

Since I get such good results with outboard harmony I wonder if maybe the PA 600 would suffice. I believe you owned a 600 before getting into the 900. What else would I be missing along with the lack of onboard harmony? Are the styles pretty much the same? Can you record other than midi on the 600? Maybe PM me with your thoughts. Thanks.

I wish Digitech would hook up with Yamaha and incorporate their VH technology into future Yamaha keyboards.......TC Helicon is very good but I always had a affection for the warmth of the Digitech sound for example on the VR units when using VH in my live act and studio recordings over TC....another alternative when recording in studio is to do it track by track without a VH at all as I have done many times to get the exact harmonies I need especially with passing tones in a song.......

KORG 80 I would get the PA900 or Pa3x either way is a better choice over the Pa600 IMO. Good Luck
