My keyboard has a perplexing problem. when I first plug it into a power strip (old) or some other power sources the keyboard sends this nasty spike into the system when I start playing or at certain points right after it's plugged into the P.A. Someone looked at the board already and saw no burns, no bad soldering jobs, nothing loose, etc. It's an Alesis QS 7.1.

Someone today told me that the energy spikes (that's what they sound like, an awful hissing sound like the keyboard is overloading the sound system) could be caused by bad power sources and a conditioner generally works to solve that problem and it could even be just the power cord.

Has anyone else heard of this? I'm in desperate search of answers that don't cost me $500 to send to Alesis.

$500?
Do you mean it literally?
