THE DOG'S FUNERAL
Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company. One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, "Father, me dog is dead. Could ya' be saying' a mass for the poor creature?"
Father Patrick replied, "I'm afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe. Maybe they'll do something for the creature.
" Muldoon said, "I'll go right away Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate for the service?" Father Patrick explained, "Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn't ya tell me the dog was Catholic?

Don't want to put a damper on a good joke 'cause it IS funny.....but---it does sort of confirm what we all know (or should know) about religion....that it's a lot easier being a 'true believer' when there is something (money, power, etc.) to be gained from it. Just sayin'. chas

It is a funny joke. It's good to laugh at ourselves sometimes.
And Chas, I understand your comments. For me, faith in God is different from religion as understood by many in observance of rituals. It sounds like you've had some bad experiences with people who profess to be religious.
Given this is not the forum, if there's anything I can do to help, please let know by PM.
