My personal (rather disappointed) notes on NAMM 2015 (copied from my Facebook NAMM summary): Some personal notes on NAMM 2015 releases (updated Jan 23): YAMAHA: again no Motif successor despite all rumours, instead, the white version again and a display of vintage synths... http://usa.yamaha.com/about_yamaha/namm/ROLAND: JD-Xi, JD-Xa (not yet presented on their website!), Aira MX-1 - if that's it, I'll pass on this time.... http://youtu.be/B1Yh1UqMjcEhttp://youtu.be/C7HwMugaJqwhttp://youtu.be/_0KeRAWQZ2M However, the JD-Xa might become a hot seller for Roland, but analogue is not my cup of tea. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electron...jd-xa-woah.htmlKORG: My dreams of a 'Kronos Light module version' similar to the M3 module hasn't come true (and no upgraded Krome either). No new sample-based synths (and no new arrangers - maybe at Musikmesse) NORD: As already posted, it is a new Nord Electro 5, not a Nord Stage 3 they released - for me personally, the most interesting Nord so far, but still too many limitations in the synth section (e.g. 15-voice polyphony).

The biggest most innovative news comes from Akai.. Their professional range of master keyboards with full VST integration Als the arturia beatstep pro is a very nice improvement They also announced Omnisphere 2, my favourite VST, and lots of upgrades and new VSTs, and almost alll DAW software got an update There is a new analogue Dave Smit synth, prophet 6 Korg did show an ARP 2600 VA synth, and offcourse the new Kronos2, which is nothing but a repackaged version of Kronos X So not much from the hardware side, but the software side is booming with buiseness..

I watched Eric Persing's video presentation of Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2. Eric Persing was the magic person behind the great Roland sounds of the 1990s. Unfortunately, Omnisphere 2 seems to be much too demanding for the use with a medium-performance laptop or Microsoft Surface Pro 3, and I don't see how I could use it conveniently in a live situation. And there seems to be the rub. On one side the sound and tweakgeeks (is that a new word?:)), and, on the other side, the gigging troopers. Shall the twain ever meet? In another thread here this morning: http://www.synthzone.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/398543/Interesting_Keyboard_Add_On#Post398543We have the guy talking throughout the video without once putting his fingers on the keys in front of him - can he actually play, I wonder. Sorry, but I need to see someone with a live video with a floor full of dancers before I can get excited about this whole VST thing. Some of us don't spend our time burrowed away in a back room. So if anyone has a video such as I just described, please do us working guys a favour and put it up please. "And the congregations said, AMEN."
