Ian, that snow removal is NOT free! The cost is included in the price of your rent. It got real cold here last night, down to 50 degrees f in the Florida Keys, (damned global warming.). Most of the homes, including this one, do not have any form of heat, so I had to snuggle up tight with Carol last night to keep warm.

Gary, considering my rent, which is $354/month, includes all utilities (heat, lights, water etc.), and all maintenance (fix/repair/replace), which includes all appliances (stove, fridge, fans, baseboard heaters) as well as snow removal, it certainly gets pretty close to free...in any case, I'm not complaining.

All I pay for is my Internet and basic Telephone service. Parking is also included in the rent.

My apartment is the perfect size for me...bright and airy, and big enough not to feel cramped, yet small enough to easily keep clean and look after...plus, I have great neighbors in the building, two of which are retired gourmet chefs who aren't above trying out some fancy dishes on us other bachelors.

Big snow on the way, with flash freeze warning issued for tonight. It's blizzard conditions right now.

Good day to be inside, nice and warm, with lots to do...I'm going to boot up the Tyros4 and have some fun with that great new Superstition style, as well as tidy up a few I just finished editing.

Thank Donny for tutorial, learned a lot. Ian, great advice as always, and Ron, that style is awsome! SZ is the best!

Ian, for $354 a month, you couldn't rent a room on my boat down here.

I just walked outside to check the temperature while wearing a short sleeved shirt and jeans. Guess I'll take a bike ride and get some exercise. This is where I'm stayin till March 18, then headed back to the frozen wilds of Maryland.

Cheers,

Nope, nor would I want to, Gary...I'm not fond of boats...I never was...I'm a car guy...cars and music.

I was also never interested in traveling south to warmer climes.

Being able to live inexpensively, but still very comfortably, is only one of the many perks to living on Cape Breton Island.

Certainly, it allows the opportunity to use the money saved for other interesting hobbies and pastimes...of which I take full advantage.

No matter where you go, there you are...the secret is to be happy within, Grasshopper.

Not to keep this thread off track, BUT, considering the long range forecast for more snow this coming Tuesday and Wednesday, AND next Saturday, this is where I'll probably be until mid - MAY !!!

upstairs deck and lower level patio - pics taken today -
