Some of you have mentioned using the Sennheiser e945. I think this is the mike we may use next but it would be good to have a wireless version of it.

Any of you have any suggestions as to which Sennheiser wireless system is close to the e945?

It lets you use ANY mic you want. Just plug the transmitter into the end of it.
I think Shure and Sennheiser also make versions of it. This one is fairly inexpensive, and I've been using it for years with no problems.

I have used this in the past also.....it works good for a guest mic like a SM58 etc,. but adds considerable backend weight to a regular mic for regular use.....I'd recommend if your gonna use it for your main singing mic get a real Wireless much lighter and suited for Vocal situations,.. .......but remember the Mic alone isn't gonna make you sond better, ......only a Good Singing Voice will do that...just sayin'....

personally for vocals I like EV Mics..a crisp richness no other I have tried can give me on stage for my voice..

A guy who lugged around those heavy speakers and stands for years should be able to handle an extra 2 or 3 ounces on the mic! Frankly I never noticed the weight being at all significant!

It's not the extra weight big deal a few OZ's ..it's also the awkwardness of having it attached to the bottom of the mic just doesn't feel right in the hand that's all,....but it works fine as I stated. I also had to put some tape around the extension & mic where it joins together as it fell off a few times also while I was singing..

Many thanks to all of you who responded. I've become a fan of Sennheiser mikes(for my wife) as well as Sennheiser/Crown for me. I like my voice through the e835 but for live I like my Crown 311A the best.

Sennheiser company recommended the E845 wireless version, with the option of buying an e945 capsule for it at a later time. Would work well for my wife.

Like many of you, I have a bag full of cables, mikes etc from days gone by. What I'm trying to do now that it's just my wife and I, is to find those one or two mikes(cables etc)that will work for just about everything and clean house. I work with high school kids daily, some of whom love music, they are going to be the recipients of some cables/mikes.

To that end, I just ordered a Mogami mike cable...15 footer at $50+...most I've spent on a mike cable. I want something that is rugged and sounds good. My newest(bargain)last two mike cables have a short or whatever and don't work so good. The cables weren't cheap but not expensive either.

I've heard my wife sing through Shure, Crown, EV, Rode, Sennheiser and a number of less expensive brands. For recording I still like her voice through one of the two Rode LD condenser mikes that we have had for years. But for live, I really like her voice through Sennheiser. Capturing her voice isn't easy but Sennheiser seems to do it best.

Hopefully Sennheiser has a receiving unit for their e835 that can handle more than one mike.
