The styles are excellent and having people react to the styles
certainly proves they have what it takes to grab attention. Lloyd

I have a MIDI file (From Yamaha) that plays fine in my Tyros 5 but does not in my SD 7. Is there something I must do to get it to play in the SD 7? The number is "Time Is Tight" Lloyd

Could it be that the Yamaha midifile is not fully GM and use special (organ?) voices within Tyros?
Guess it's possible by use of the SD7 to swap voices by use of internal editor?
If not, you have to look at the file and rework in an external editor as i.e. the PC sofware GNMidi.

Some Yamaha songs use megavoice technollogy, you can not simply convert them

Thank you both for replying to my problem. It does have organ voices so this is most likely the problem. Lloyd

If the Yamaha midifile has specific voices or/and voicing that resides only in the YAMAHA Keyboard, then this song will not play properly in the Ketron SD7 ... or any other manufacturer's GM or GM2 unit. Re-voicing and choosing equivalent voices in the SD7 is available with the built in GM editor, however the results will not be the same as on the Yamaha Keyboard due to the different voice articulations.

The reverse is also true - taking GM files that were written for Ketron products (that factors in their live grooves/drums) and trying to play them on the Tyros .. drums and bass lines will not sound as good (if any).

Thanks.

Gunner Johnny,
Thanks for suggesting a "fix" for the problem but I am going
to simply forget about playing the file in the SD 7 and use
it in the Tyros 5.

I have several rigistrations stored in my SD 7. I would like to
take the registrations and separate them as Latin, Foxtrot etc.
and put them in folders as I have done on my Tyros 5.
I don't know how to go about it and if someone does, please
email me the directions, I would love to be able to do this.
Perhaps AJ will see this. Lloyd

You can create folders within the Registration folder, name them what you want, or rename the ones that are there.
It's easiest to do by plugging USB cable into the SD7 and using your computer, but it can be done using the Edit function on the SD7.
