For reasons well known by some, I'm NOT a customer for the SD-7 or any other Ketron product, and am thinking about retiring the ones I have.

What other brand and/or model would you recommend? Not real crazy about Yamaha.

Roland BK 9. 76 keys, not too heavy, nice pianos, organs, and good styles too.

BK9 would suit you perfectly.

I second the BK-9...only issue I have with it, is that the much vaunted Chord Sequencer works well enough, but has a serious flaw (at least for some people's needs, including mine) in that it will not transpose a recorded chord sequence if you decide to change key during a tune.

Otherwise, the organ section is by far the most realistic Hammond emulation you'll find among arrangers (including Ketron), with reasonably well simulated (and situated) drawbars/sliders and a more than acceptable Leslie sim ...add those high quality Roland sounds and styles, a 76 note decent feeling keyboard (quite passable for piano) and you've got a nice lightweight and quite powerful instrument.

Sort of having an idea of your style, Russ, at present I'd think the Roland or a Korg Pa3x-76. That said, Korg's Pa4x can't be too far off now, so if you're in no great hurry, I'd wait and see what transpires with that.

Russ,

If you want a sound that is close to KETRON's, I would think KORG would be next (Pa3X). With it's editing tools and strength, you can create a lot and still benefit from the Arranger section when needed. Roland would be next in line ...again if you're trying to get close to the KETRON sound without having a KETRON. Also, if you have some 'down' time, you could tweak the Korg to your perfection too.

Just my thoughts ...
