Hi Don,

Simply select any variation of the style. Now change to the drum or percussion kit you want. Now press function & select style edit mode. Use the tab buttons top right to tab to the next page to the right. press save & save style to where you want. Now it has your new drum kits.

Another easier way, just change the drums as how you want & save to a registration. This is by far the easiest way.

Hope this helps my friend,

Henni

Yeah,

When I last enquired they were R125 000. So the price came down a bit. Paid R25 000 for my S950.

Wow!

That was a VERY good price. I bought mine last year. It was listed just under R28 000, but they discounted it for me to R25 000. Next time I'll go to your favorite music store in Pretoria indeed.

I'm sure they'll be offer the S970 to you for not much more than that. I think you should seriously consider that option instead.

Cheers,

Henni

...the converted styles will lack the audio drums and the real voices (those with a "v").

Hi AJ,

I would not even try to convert Ketron Audya or SD7 styles. I do not believe for a moment that any other arranger would be able to play Ketron styles like a Ketron arranger does.

What Yamaha does is add mega voice technology to all those voices that could like i.e. guitars, flutes, brass, violin, strings. This GREATLY improves any older type of styles, even from the older Ketron SD1 styles. This is what I'm trying to demonstrate in the demos.

So if any 3rd party style converter could convert i.e. Korg or Roland styles properly to Yamaha format, then Yamaha's Mega Enhances can update many voices to their latest Mega voice technology - I mean not just change the voice, but add slides, nuiances and many other things to it. This really make some older styles come alive.

However, nothing beats the Audya when it comes to realism. But like I aid, nothing beats Yamaha when it boils down to styles & the sheer variety of them.

Cheers,

Henni

Henni,
You are right on point here. I have played Yamaha keyboards for the last 10 years and have never went wanting for a style for a song. I now own a Ketron SD7 and truly love it. Like you, I wish there was a style converter that would allow styles from other keyboards to be converted. Can't beat the sound though!

Henni,
Thanks for the link to your converted PA800 styles. I tried them on a Tyros 5. Most of the styles converted quite well. I great starting point to further rework them to the Tyros 5 standard.

Not all the Mega voices will work correctly with the odd glitch, but sometimes a different Mega voice will work better or change to a comparable SA style voice that might interpret the Korg velocity levels, slides and other programmed nuances better.

On the Tyros 5, I would first make the voice chances to the various style midi channels and volume levels you want, then open the style in Style Creator for final editing. I would then permanently save the converted style from the Style Creator mode.

The issue with changing to a Brush Kit or whatever one you want can also be made in Style Creator. The Tyros 5 has a nice Real Brush Kit that is closest to audio drums. Maybe some older programmed styles can play more accurately using drum kits from the Legacy folder or even older XG and GS kits.

Any style can be converted on the Tyros 5 with the drum channels converted to any suitable 75 or so available Yamaha Audio Styles. While in Style Creator load the suitable Audio style and assemble the non audio midi style parts in the assembly tab. Make all your edits and changes and save to the User Drive.

Only issue is, audio style saves can only be saved to the User Drive and once saved cannot be copied. I have roughly 75 audio hybrid saves, but can hold roughly a hundred audio styles.

Beyond converting to an audio style, you can take it a step further and add some nice Tyros 5 vocal and choir midi track parts to the style. In Assembly, you can change up any style or borrow any style part you want. I agree there is more flexibility with the Yamaha styles.

Marcus
